i believe he did the whole thing solo. i know he had a goo dfew sponsors for things like tires, etc. his site is http://www.sjaaklucassen.nl. looks like he's in cali now.

ever seen Survivorman? he just sets up a camera on a tripod to film himself, then has to go back and retrieve it of course.
love the scenes of him on a track with that behemoth. and how can't you laugh yoru ass off at the shots of an R1 traveling down a jungle river in a traditional dugout canoe

He was a guest at a BMW club, talking about his touring. I first saw his webstire about 4 years ago. A lot of time spent on the road.
One thing for sure, he can ride.
But R-1's are not the only bikes good for sport touring.
CBR 929 are good too!
