If the aftermarket rod contains the destruction to rod and crank, it's worth it to me.
I'm sure if the problem continues long enough even aftermarket rods will window the cases.
Just hoping for more warning before i lose ANOTHER crank, rod, cyclinder and cases.
You remember when the oil light would come on, or you hear the engine knocking?
You have a rebuildable engine compared to 3 used pistons, head and transmission to add to the parts shelf.

Ra,
Uh oh, that's scary.....
Ninja,
The bosses exist in the cases. They just need to be drilled and tapped for the jets.

Doug,
Do you recommend adding the extra jets?
Thanks.

By far the majority of the oiling problem on the 12 have been on big end of the rod.
Will the extra jets hurt oil pressure?
Do you recommend them?
Where do you get them?
I've looked a the microfiche and don't see them listed.

Recommend? It depends on the use/configuration of the engine. What combo are you building? This thread never said.
Regarding oiling, I think a more accurate statement would be: The place most often and first effected by loss of oil pressure is the rod big end. Again, this isn't a rod "problem" or an oiling "problem", it is a result of a failure to maintain adequate oil supply TO THE PUMP.

No, the jets don't significantly lower oil pressure. And, no you won't find them on the fiche. The original design of the engine had provisions for piston cooling squirts but after testing, KHI felt they were not warranted and they were never part of the production design. But the bosses are still there. I think Entropy had Johnny install them. He can tell you what size jets they used and if they felt it was warranted.

I pulled a couple of jets outa a junk set of cases, carefully drill, tap, stake and you are there. Worth it??? who knows, but I am the only guy on my block in Moo City who has 'em.

Maybe VH would do an extensive series of pressure, temperature, flow rate tests with say, synthetic vs dino oil???
