I'll just be wondering if a '06 tach (hopefully redesigned) will retro fit a '04.

What will be real interesting is if KTM finally chooses to jump into the mix.

Don't get to excited for 06 unless things start happening in a hurry, hopefully the 06 10R will have some geometry issues sorted so we can use the power it already makes in an useful way instead of just chewing up tyres ( I am refering to this as a racing issue ). The current 10R needs a healthy dose of the 05 ZX6 in it frame wise, the brakes need to be addresssed not just the master as we are also having problems bigtime in this area.

I think you will see the next evolution of the ZX12R in 07 and it will need to be good or they might as well drop it from the lineup. You will see greater influence from the MotoGP program through the ZX range and some major upgrades to trump the opposition as a colour change and decals just doesn't cut it anymore.

It's all good and getting better!

call me the odd man out, but i think we got plenty of power. i'd rather see improvements in weight savings, handling, and fuel efficiency & emissions. oh, and good sticky tires that last more than 2500miles under average use.

I wanted an orange bike, so at first was looking for an '04 holdover....but, maybe I should reall just ride my other bikes and see what '06 brings........these bikes just get better and better.......don't know.....color choice or watch and wait...

I guess I can always live with the green.

You got to wonder if the new ZX12r will look like the ZX10. Kawasaki has to add more horse power, the 1000's are starting to catch up, some of them have come out with just as much horse power as a stock Zx12r, I stress the word stock ZX12r. Its time to step it up a notch.

Not quite, but they are close. Most stock 12's are in the 158 - 162hp range stock., and put out significantly more torque than a 1000 (the old no replacement for displacement scenerio). While testing on the same dyno, the strongest 1000's are in the 152 - 153 range. But of course they are 100 pounds lighter, so it becomes a mute point.

It would simply be nice to see a revised frame and a good diet given to the 12. Don't change the argos too much (don't make it into a 10). It's in a different class than the 10. But given a few updates/changes, I'd buy another one.

top speed war are over..... i thought the life span of a GT class sports is 10 years, like the zzr1100 n the black bird(coming 10years soon for the old bird)??? uglybusa 7 years old and our zx12r are only 6 years oldwith already a facelift in 2002..who knows kawasaki might combine the zzr1200 n zx12r to become a zzxr or zzrx or zrxz ...a true hypersports TOURER..anyway it might be time for yamaha to update thier fjr1300.. n suzuki a not so uglybusa tourer...anyway zx12r are still ahead of the bmw 1200..cheers

Does'nt that new GSXr 1000 have about 164 horse power stock? I would just like to see the 12r raise that bar, as well as drop some weight. I hope they do revamp the whole 12r, i would sell my 2003 and buy a new one. As it is my 03 12r is kicking ass on the street now, It has just a few mods. But i did race a GSXr 05 1000, he was right on my ass the whole time, Im used to just pulling on guys and there 1000's, but this guy was on me.

No. But it can depend on who's dyno and what settings. Bottom line - the GSXR is about plus 2 hp at peak over the 10. You're going to see number claims all over the place. But when you test production bikes, they are in the low - mid 150's.

I have just had my bike dynoed on a brand new Dynojet 250i and took more than a day to complete the final settings and follows the( A/F curve )as close as you are ever likely to get on one of these units. The reason for the drawnout setup is that the operator was being given instruction by the distributor on getting the most out of the Dyno as most people who buy them only use 20% of their ability and don't buy the additional software that lets you truly set up a bike properly. ( according to the distributor )

I don't know how many runs were done on the bike but it was in excess of 50 with mapping adjustments at every possible point to match the software curve, the bike had a map already installed standard air filter (that needs replacing) Full EVO 2 system with the following readings.

Ist run 152.7 rwhp after the mapping with the new map and standard filter 162.6 rwhp haven't had a chance to ride it yet but it is using far less fuel than before as it was very rich prior to this. I have a k&N race filter to fit and a TRE to go then a final sorting run and adjust if required.

FYI a k5 Gixer on the same dyno registered 147 rwhp runin and sorted but stock so the figures are greatly inflated nice smooth curve though.
