V. Hill - Exhaust install questions...the ARATA is HERE!

1. The exhaust gaskets...there is a smooth side and a seam side. Which way faces the exhaust port? The totally smooth side or the side with the seam?

2. What is the torque specs on the flange nuts?

3. Do I need to apply anything to the pipes at the joints?

4.Any tips/suggestions?

Thanks for your help.

Since you are already there, remove the Kleen air valve, muzzy fan, do the crankcase mod, put some water wetter and you should be set for now.

I mount the Gaskets with the Ridge side facing out (My thinking is that the I do not want the seam facing the exhaust gas flow but I do not think it makes that much difference)

To ease ever taking them apart I use Hi Temp Copper RTV sealer. Titainium seems to want to weld itself together. By putting this in the seams, it seems to help getting them apart if the need ever arises!

I also put a dab of Antiseize on the studs that mount the Spigots. Torque?? Not a lot, maybe 100 inch pounds!

I do remove the radiator and install the Muzzy fan blades because the thinner pipes allow more heat to melt the plastic fans!
