DG....that got your attention didnt it.....
Well it wasnt actually a DG event, obviously. But Bret and I went down to north GA for the weekend and rode with a buddy of his from the turbo rallies, Bill. We had a great time got in some good riding on sunday, got to ride on saturday, but woudlnt call it good.
I will give you a brief run down of the weekend.
Friday I got off work early and was going to head down to Nashville to pick Brett up at his house, when i called him he was still at work waiting on his paycheck. His plan was to try to leave work at 2 or 3 in the afternoon, needless to say that didnt happen. I left Ft Knox about 4 pm, and got to his house about 6. We loaded all of his stuff up and went to head out on ly to realize I needed to go to walmart to get wiper blades for the truck. Got those put on and headed out to GA. We arrived at his sisters about 1:30 AM, and sat up until about 3:30 shooting the shit with his sister and her husband, then we had to crash, I had been up since 5 am that morning.
After a few hours sleep I awoke to see the sun up and shining, I went outside. It was rather chiully, but the day looked promising, so I went and woke Brett up so we could get ready and do some riding. By the time we actually got out to the bikes nad started unloading them, the weather went from cold and clear to really cold, very windy and raining....then it started to snow, yes snow......So we jumped in the truck and headed out to find Bill and shoot the shit with him and take care of a few errands.
About 2 PM the sun came out and it got warmer, so we all decided to go for a ride, Brett and I went to his sisters to get our bikes and Bill and his g/f got ready while we made our drove back. We all met at Toosies at the end of GA 400. We headed up the hills.....
It was cold but not unbearable, we kept heading up only for it to start sprinkling, I was leading and decided to keep pushing hoping that we would drive out of it, no such luck. We made turners Corner and had to start our way down. We had to stop every 15 miles or so and thaw out, it was freaking COLD.....
Later that night we all went to dinner at TGIFridays and had a great time, even with the 4 spilt drinks.....dont ask......lol
next morning we had decided to meet at Toosies again at 10 am so we could ride. Everyone backed out except Brett, myself and Bill, so we headed out....We got about 5 hours of great riding, all over north GA. We hit Blood Mountain, Richard Russel Scenic highway, Hwy 75, Wolf Pen Gap Rd, hwy 60, and many others.....we even ventured up BrasstownBald Mountain, the highest point in GA.....talk about cold......you will see in the pics how cold.

pffft, little snow in the background, whoopee. try riding thru the stuff with a backpack full of groceries, bald tires, and falling snow that leaves u ridin with an open visor cause it fogs up in 10s flat 
seriously tho, ncie pics as always from the gap. i gotta get over there one day.

I cant wait to get all the bikes done so I can take them back down and go riding again. That 129 over blood mountain was the best. Until the cops showed up! Glad we were done when we went by.

I will try and get this load done by then and get a group to go down there with me. Maybe we can hook up and do some riding. I go down once a month to deliver paint work and pick more up so I though I would get a truck to take the bike with me this year.

you know I am in Brett, just got to let me know a head of time......memorial day is out for me, not that I woudl go to Deals on a holiday, but I have to work friday and monday.
Maybe if you get done in time we can do down there and hook up with Voz, but we wont be up at the gap, but down in GA....much less traffic there......lol

Can't make the dates for MAy. But I'll be down for 3 weeks come June/July.
BTW , Been 60-70 deg for a week and a half and STILL got snow in the yard. Lakes are still froze over even.

hey Greg, let me know when you make it down here for those couple weeks, will get Brett and Roger and head down there. It took Brett and I 7 hours to get there from here, 5 from his place. And that was actually down to TWO, woudl be faster to get up near Knoxville.....

June 24 thru July 15. About 15 -20 mi East of Knoxville on I-40, Dandridge ,TN ...Can literally see the interstate from the driveway...Dad's house, should be completely done by then. Full finished 2+ br downstairs w/kitchenette. Just ask Harriet, he's been there. Lodging included, not to mention mom's home cooking...just show up. Got room. Full services, tire mounting and balancing on premises. Much cheaper than the cabins in Townsend. PLUS I got a ZRX buddy close by that knows all the good roads. Let's go hit Brushy Mtn....... Hey, Slug, you in?........
FWIW My 12 still sits like it did after the little get off I had in Sept., oil pouring out the stator cover and shifter dangling.(Brett, you still need an undertail?) Been focusing all my time on the ZRX (outside college and high school age daughters, ...groan) getting ready for the 1st Intl ZRX rally in Eureka Springs, Ark in June. The week after Road America, which is only 3 hrs South of here. My good bud is working for E Boz this year, of whom I'm a big fan, AND it's my wife's Bday that weekend too. I sense a big party coming. SO, after RA we'll be riding down to Arkansas, then home and then to TN. IF I dont find time to fix the Ninja I'll be on the ZRX, not that that's a bad thing. I could always steal Dad's 12 if neccessary but he ZRX is fun in the twisties too and I got lots of mods in the works.
This was in Sept...Been moved in for a few months now, Dad is nearly done with the basement which you see here. Looking South .....
EDIT: and FWIW the lakes are STILL frozen over....

oh yeh, and the west end of 116 has been repaved and is VERY nice when clear of debris
for all those contemplating a ride up 441 through the national forest, don't That road is in terrible shape.
62 west of wartburg has also been repaved, and is in good shape as well.
i plan on taking that route in a few weeks to stretch the old bike out some more.

hey Greg, I will be down on the weekends, and I will talk to Brett and Roger to see if they want to go as well. Alos we need to call Scott (EA6BMECH) and see if he wants to join in on a ride, maybe his boy as well. Give me a shout and I will give the dates to the wife to set aside the time and money. Might even bring momma along as well.You gonna have the wife with ya?

I am in just remind me a week or so ahead of time. I might bring mama as well. No, I dont need one I got Rog's on the bike now. I am working on other mods and add-ons right now. With all the changes I need seat time now to catch up.

Yep, Ruby will be along. Seat time...??? What's that? The snow's gone but the lakes are still froze over, and the sand, jeez, sand is evereywhere. Need a couple good raging thunderstorms and a giaant street sweeper before it gets good riding around here. Still getting low 20's for overnight lows.
Bought a set of '01 decals for the 12 and a new set of green perf'd leathers so she'll prolly get the green plastic put back on for the time being.

dam that bad up in the great white north eh. I talked to my dad the other day and he is riding his bike everyday back and forth to work.......lol
I guess you live TOO far north....lmbo
I will pack Kelly up when it comes time and we can all go out then, She like to ride, but she wont do it fast....lmbo

Shit why not leave Friday night......then we can ride all day saturday as well. I have the saddle bags for the 10 all set up all I have to do is put them on. Hey Brett do me a favor though......try to keep up, it really sucsk having to stop every time I come to an intesection, taking off my helmet, shutting off the bike, and taking a nap on the side of the road. You do know that 12 has 6 forward gears, and the thing on the right handlebar twists and makes it go faster right?
How ya like me now biatchhhhhhh........lmfao

ran 330 to 116 to brushy mountain sunday afternoon, it's in very good condition, though rough on the few places where repairs have been made (good ocndition = free of debris)
July4 weekend sounds like a weiner, though DG will be a circus. if must hit it on saturday, then do so at like 7am, then bug out and don't show backup until after 5 or 6 pm
weekend after this one i'll be scouting out 209 and a few other roads on other side of cherokee
will post up photos from last weekend and this weekend when i get the time.
