Deal's Gap ride report, 3-12-2005. Faint of heart need not ride it soon.
Just a teaser.
Faint of heart need not ride the Dragon this week.
or next week for that matter, as it will likely still be cruddy.
ANYWAY i decided to ride out to robbinsville to get the birth certificate for my baby. Did some riding, and got to bottom of the gap. i heard the words of warning from ron (tailofthedragon.com) "avoid the gap, there be salt there" (just kidding, he actually said that he heard they salted it. not good for a slug ya know...)
startup, and realize that he was wrong. TDOT did not salt Deal's Gap. They covered it. It was like they KNEW saturday/sunday would benice. so they over-did the salting of the road. way tooo much salt.
otherwise it was a great trip, and i had a good shakedown tour for the bike from its month rest. next weekend...more roads

Salt sucks. Way of life up in these parts. Hit 65 deg last Feb, unheard of around here. Couldnt stand it and went for a ride. Big mistake, roads looked good and clean but boy was I wrong . Like to never got all that stuff of the bike.

yeh i was hangin off like a madman to keep it upright around the corners.
worked too, instead of sliding out it just slid sideways
kept spinning up the back wheel too...in 2nd gear.....
poor thing. i also missed its 52nd birthday picture, so i settled for 52025 instead
took the new bike out for a little spin today. v-twin is gonna take some getting used to...

it is, still 'breaking it in' so to speak. doing the obligatory fluid changes.
it is NOT a couch like the yzf or the zx12. lemme tell ya. hehe
hard onthe boys if you stop suddenly, the tank is sooo narrow.. will take some getting used to.
2nd gear 1/4 -1/3 throttle (don't know exactly how much, i was busy) had the front wheel searching for sky...
oops...
only let it up an inch or two before i closed down (surprised the crap outta me. kid thought it was cool though....)
(neigbor's kid along for a ride)
anyway i'llpost a more thorough ride report when i get the suspenders set for me and some more seat time.
