steering damper?????????????
I cant find a scotts anywhere on the planet until 2-3rd week in April. I would look into a Muzzy but 650 for a tube style damper (hyperpro I think) is just wrong. Dealer cost is still over 550.00! WOW. GPR is making one but is not ready and wont give a date for release. Toby has discontinued. Can any of you dealers out there give me a hand in finding one?Does anyone have one they want to sell? Thank in advance for any suggestions, Brett

Hello Bob, Thanks for your reply. It is an A model 2001. I am stressing on this 'cause I have a track day comming up in 2-3 weeks. The bike is coming apart this weekend to set it up. Thanks again, Brett

Muzzy one is worth the money. I had it on mine and did many track days with it. The quality and design of the mounting system is excellent. Perhaps being a member of the site might allow you to ask for some consideration on the price. Give them a call and try.

You dont need a steering damper!!!
Just lower the forks a 1/2 inch, set up the suspension good and your done!!!

Thanks for all the input. I have a freind who will give me the Muzzy at dealer cost , just wanted a scotts. I will give scotts and GPR 2 weeks. If they can not get me one then I will get the Muzzy. If it were not for my freind I would not even consider it. I will say the mounting system Muzzy uses is ALOT more attractive then the Hyperpro. Hopefully more effective.

I have heard the same about Muzzy and Hyperpro. I have also heard of problems with the Muzzy leaking. I like the sound of the latest Hyperpro( RSV I think) but the mounting system takes it out of the line up. I will bug the SHIT out of Scotts and GPR for the next couple of weeks. Hopefully somebody will come through with a Scotts. The problem is that I can not find anybody with one in stock. They all tell me that they can order me one but when they call Scotts they are out of stock and wont be letting any more out until 5-6 weeks. I talked to two people that said they could get me one in a couple of weeks. I just have to wait and see.

The Muzzy damper unit IS a latest design rate-sensitive Hyperpro. This is no secret. All Hyperpro damper units of a certain serial sequence were subject to leakage and Hyperpro replaced them no questions for quite some time. That "batch" is now very old, though and they are no longer being supported. All the Muzzy units now being shipped are of the latest design and carry the normal Hyperpro warranty. The Muzzy mounting system is unlike any other and is a very clean and "elegant" solution to the difficult mounting requirements of the 12.

Damn, I just cant get past the tank plate, sorry. Yes Doug it was long ago when it happened and I am sure the problem has been fixed. That is good to hear that they are the rate sensitive units. I would love to have one and I still might if I cant find a scotts or gpr in time. I personaly like the "old school" look of the tube damper it was the cost that put it second choice. But I give you guys my "hat off" on having one in stock!!!!!

crashtech-
The Muzzys setup doesn't use the tank plate- that's the Hyperpro kit. Take a look at the Muzzy website.

I agree the muzzy setup is stunning. Doug, I have seen the website and the damper.I know a machinest and he said the set-up is really nice. Thats why muzzy was second choice, only because of costs. It does not matter now, I got a scotts last night and it will be shipped Mon. I am exited! Thanks to all of you for your help.

I hear ya Dave! That looks good. If mine were an '02 up thats what it would have. I think scotts is a better choice for the money on an A model. By the way thats a sweet gps dude, along with the mount.

crash.... sounds like already had your mind made up.
The Muzzys is the best choice and mounts securely with Grade 8 sized bolts.
Scotts is cheaper and mounts with 2 dinky bolts. .

Yes I never doubted that I wanted a scotts. I could not find one and thought I would vent here and see what happened?Muzzy was the second choice because of availability and cost. I will say that I have never heard of anyone saying anything bad about a scotts. the Muzzy is a wonderful piece, just very expensive. I have seen ALOT of 12's with scotts and never seen any sign or heard of any stress on the mounting area's if installed correct.
