Muzzy stacks
Is anyone familiar with the Muzzy stock replacement stacks for the 12R and are they much of an improvement over the oem's?

Do a search on velocity stacks, this topics have been covered at least a dozen times.

Well EXCUSE ME for asking. I DID do a search. I was asking about Muzzy stacks, not Bear stacks. The only post I could find on Muzzy stacks was the one on this thread with me asking about them.
By the way, thanks mrsantafe.

I know very little about Muzzy Stacks (I have seen them in Gold Short and Blue stock length) I also did a search and he is correct. No one has a thread on them except him!

I should have added (On "This" Web site)
I did not want to remove the name of the last poster but one statement in the post I would change or add. (The Blue stacks ("Slightly longer" are the only one that have a provision for NOS Nozzles) I have not seen the "NOS" Provision on the Short Muzzy Stacks.

The muzzy stacks come in two lengths, one slightly longer than stock and on slightly shorter. These lengths were chosen to optimize two tuning changes- the shorter ones move the power peak slightly higher and are suggested for Hi rpm engines. The longer ones do the opposite, they move the torque peak down a bit, emphasizing the mid range. Like all velocity stack changes regardless of who manufactures them, if properly shaped they do not add or "find" new power, they move it around. They are tuning components and this is the way Muzzys markets them. There are no specific claims of "added" power, nor should there be. They are precision parts that afford a better seal between the engine and frame and also can accomodate nitrous nozzels.

Let me clarify my finding and by no means is this a blanket statement because different bikes may get different results.
When my motor was stock with exception of a step hindle pipe my bike made 169 hp (no pc). I added the stock replacement (muzzy blue) stacks. On the dyno i saw a three hp spike at 7500 rpm's. There was no peak hp gain. . Just for sh-ts and giggles we put back the stock stacks and re-dynoed. I had the dyno guy make several pulls both ways. Then i had the dyno operator overlay the muz stack and stock stack overlay. There was a slight difference in hp maybe a horsepower from 6500-7400 rpm range and then a definate three hp spike at 7500.

How about the T.Q. in that range mrsantafe?
Also, how much taller than stock are the Muzzy's?

My stock stacks are so distorted, the blues I just installed will surely help a bit. I knew they would'nt give any huge gain, but I just could'nt put those rubbers back in. Haven't ridden yet, so I don't know of any positive/negative results.
They look around 5mm higher.

Come on Psycho, You know the answer to that question.... The only way the hp can be higher is for the torque to be higher.
