Finally Rode With Some Board Members!!!
Met some 12 owners on Easy's boards and got together for a little ride this afternoon. Put in about 200 miles and now it's time for the 400 mile service!!! Check out the thread!!

Rich...
Can I get some rationale behind your suggestion?? My thoughts are to wait until I think it is fully broke in before using synthetic. Reason being I intend on changing the oil every 500-600 miles until it is broke in and then go with the synthetic every 1500 miles or when it appears dirty. What do you think LubeMan???

I think your idea is the way to go BMW, that's exactly what I did. But, I only ran synthetic for a short time and then switched to the Golden Spectro blend.

Lube me up
From the very moment we took my baby out of the crate, there's been nothing else in the case, besides Mobil 1 MX4T. I changed the oil and filter at 500, 1000, 1500 and about every 3K ever since. After about 800~900 miles of using the "Koz break-in method", I felt my bike was "officially" broke in. I received the notice from KMC about the "revised 2K break-in proceedures"... after I had already put over 4K on the bike. Oh well.
After 28K miles, two valve clearance checks and two compression checks, everything seems to be just fine. Oh yeah, I almost forgot. I still have the original clutch fibers and steel plates that came with the bike. After numerous inspections (and an ocassional "reshuffling"), there is no signs of bluing on the steels or any slippage.

ZXtra....
That was some very interesting reading but I was a little perplexed as to why the viscosity tests did not include any of the premium synthetic motorcycle oils such as Motul. I think it is safe to infer from the test results and their conclusion that full synthetic products are superior to the petroleum based products and that Mobil 1 is a very good product to use in a motorcycle application, especially for the cost. I guess that is pretty much the bottom line, what is good to use in motorcycle engines and transmissions. I too have used Mobil 1 in my previous motorcycles, all 2 of them!?!? So I guess I feel I've been wise to do so.
Hey RedElk, what's the Koz breakin method?? I talked to Doug Meyers about breakin procedures and he pretty much said "Just ride the damn thing!!!"
