Gap ride this spring???
Howdy all,
Has anybody picked dates for the semi-annual spring Deals gap ride? I am planning a trip with the GF and we would like to go then and hang out with everyone?

dunno about this site, but my normal group is staying at the treetops (ron & nancy's cabin rental, a mile and half from cherohala in robbinsville area) from april 30 to may 7 this year
we also have the ridge cabin for the moment but it may become available if we don't fill it.
maybe we'll see some more 12s this year

I am going to make DGVIII regardless of who else is going. I misses Sept so I am going. Harry also told me he is most likely going to be able to make it, last I spoke to Rick he said he is in, Bart is in too and I think Scooter is also in, Mark is probably in too. Dates would be as usual. May 15th to the 21st.

There's a partially organized ride on the 10R side.. .there was talk of bringing it all together into one big-assed Bikeland DG event... anyone want to spearhead that?

Uh, NO. With all due respect, I have been part of "spearheading" gap events in the past and all it caused is bullshit, people are going then they aren't they say they'll room with you then they don't. Fuck that. Shit ask Mark what he thinks of that.
We go basically the same week every May, if you want to go great, we'll see ya there. Oh and because of the hubub with Norm last Sept I guess we should add a disclaimer if you want to hang out with the smackhouse crew. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THICK SKIN AND CAN NOT TAKE A JOKE AND LAUGH AT YOURSELF, DON'T BOTHER COMING. Otherwise, we'd be glad to have ya.

Count me in on the Smackhouse. Mom and Pop will be done with the new house in about a week, Pop hasn't been since DG1. I smell a huge cookout coming on. I now know a "backroad" to the cabins that avoid Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge traffic. Should have the 2 BR basement done by May also....and the garage and shop are finished out and heated/AC'd......in case we get a little sauced. Just started looking at vacation dates with the crew tonite.
BTW Otis, you already missed DG8.

You're right Greg, this is DGIX isn't it. Yeah I was pretty damn bummed about missing my first event, but in the end if I had to miss one, that was it cause of the weather and all.

Yeah Otis, I was TOTALLY bummed about missing that event. I,like you, had made every prior event and felt miserable about not being able to go last fall. BUT, as it all played out that may have been a blessing in disguise. Especially when you factor in how shitty the weather was.
I've still got to make some things happen if I'm gonna make it this May, but it's not an impossible feat by any stretch of the imagination.

Actually this year if I am fortunate enough to attend, I am going to encourage the ol' "Beer Toss". Each participant will receive a prize from me personally, win or lose. They will all have something to take home with them that will allow them to cherish the memories of their beloved DG Event long after it is over.
And for the record, it was WAY more than the "beer toss" that got Norm into hot water. That was the "last straw" so to speak.

We will be up there from may 30th to the 6th of june. Hope to see you guys up there. Last year i saw a few 12 in a group but when i got turn around i could not catch them. ( Boythey are fast) LOL. Hope tosee youe guys up there.

DAMN! Jonathan and I are going to be at a CMRA race (about 950 miles from Townsend) May 12-15.
It doesn't rule out us showing up, though. A lot will depend on none of the riders trashing either the team's endurance bike during the 6 hour race or one of their own bikes during the sprint races the following day. If that happens, I'll have less than tree weeks to put them back together before the next race.
IF... everything AND everyone get through the weekend "unscratched" and all I gotta do is general service on the bikes, Jonathan and I might be making a serious road trip with the "Uber Trailer". In other words, would one of ya'll let us borrow your bathroom/shower every once and a while? If Jonathan brings his "Mother Ship" (RV), it will just be me needing to borrow someone's bathroom/shower. He won't let me inside the "Mother Ship". Then again, I guess I could just piss on Bart's bike.
