spark plugs and oil screen
A few questions for the gurus.Checked all my spark plugs and they were all undergapped. Can the removal do this or did I just catch someones boner?I also got the oilpan off and am looking at the screen, how does it come apart so I can get to the screen itself and clean it?Not too bad by the way. While in the bottom end,is there anything else I can check or should replace?

Pull the pickup out and the screen is inside. Soak it in some solvent and flush from the topside down.

If the bike has some miles under its belt it could be wise to change the gear change dogs. They wear and start to make problem after some time and it isin't a big deal to change...

I use brake clean and just spray the crap out of it from the motor side down to the oil side, BC Air, BC Air, BC Air, and repeat as much as needed.

Doug, the feeler gage,.o20 didn't even fit.Manual on page 15/29 says the gap should be between .028-.035.I'm hoping that will take care of the carbon on the insulator and more power.

how do you check the gap on that curved surface?
my box said "DO NOT GAP PLUGS" you could break the electrode.

Manual says to check gap by sliding feeler between the tine and the electrode, running parallel to the electrode. At least thats what it shows in the picture.

That does not sound like the OEM plug at all. Here is a silly question: how many ground electrodes are there on the plug? I believe the stock plug has either 3 or 4 that are equidistant from the centre electrode. The gap on this type of plug is not adjustable.

The OEM plug has 2 electrodes and in the book it says to check it with a round feeler. The plugnumber is CR9EKPA. I'dont gap the plugs when I put new ones in because I didn't had that kind of feeler. Just ride it... And by the way they should last atleast 30k miles...

Check with wire spark plug gapping tool.....I set em to max spec all the time.
You MUST have the right tool to pull the ground contact back...even then you MUST be careful not to break or crack the electrode ceramic insulator, and DONT force the wire gauge.
