I'm bearly 5'9"...

and 32" inseam. I switched from a '97 7R. My average ride is 250 miles of twisties. I wouldn't even start my 12R for anything less the a good ride of 200 miles or more.

ZX-12R

If you can afford the bike/insurance, I say go for it!
It is an awesome bike! You should still be able to find a few new 00 models out there. The silver may be harder to find, but I bet there are a few. I got my left-over 00 in silver for $8640 out the door. Of course Im in Germany, and The DMark rate was quite good last summer. You might want to consider lowering links. Muzzy sells them (they are cheap). I am only 5 foot 9, and the lowering links helped with my confidence in parking lot situations. Just bolt on the links, and raise the fork tubes a bit, and you are set. Let us know if you do find one and buy it. You won't be sorry. Just be careful... it's a scary fast smooth bike, and the speed sneaks up on you. It's easy to get in over your head. Have fun!

I am 5'6" also and it hurts my back to ride the ZX12 for any distance...hurts my NADS too since I have ALWAYS had to sit towards the front of the seat on EVERY bike I've ever owned...
With that said...you can get Heli-bars and or a new top tripple tree to raise the handle bars...
You can also easily lower the bike some if you want to...

Lowering a bike

This is the first bike Ive ever lowered. It is no problem if you lower it about the same front and rear. It feels great on the road. I love the added comfort/convieniance. I did also get the adjustable billet aluminum sidestand. Very trick... plus it saves close to 1/2 pound! LOL!

KawRider, where did you get the side stand?

Jason, the main thing that bothers me after a while is my right wrist. I have seen guys spin smaller (even 900RR) sportbikes on the side stand, and while I know that there is a "trick" to it, I would be leery of doing it on a bike this size (especially if I was making payments on it).

I think that it is crappy that a busa gets a center stand and a 12 doesn't

links

The center hole is the best for me. About 3/4 inch on the tubes is where I put the tubes... Id have to go out and measure if you want pinpoint accuracy.
I got the cool aluminum billet stand. I think I got it from Wilson.. he's a member.

PS

Be careful installing the links... I almost tipped my bike over when it lost its lateral support (old links) There is probably a better way to do it than I did. I just start taking things apart sometimes... then figure them out. Duh!
