Vincent Hill Maxton 200 MPH Sponsorship

Why hasn't some enterprising corporate type stepped up and offered Vincint Hill a sponsorship in his quest at Maxton?
Is this really the marketing no brainer of the year it seems to be? How many over 50 guys are trying to do what he is doing? Levitra? Viagra? Hello KMC? I mean how much could it possibly cost. I thought he stole every scene he was in with that article the guy wrote about his quest on a borrowed bike. Vince already got the bike! It is the kind of story that will resonate with men all over. Maxim, GQ, Details even, if you can convince Vince to go shirtless for the fellas. Playboy surely would do small story not to mention the AP and the rest of the national press. How cool would it be for Vince to be flanked by two playmates at Maxton. Sports Illustrated and of course the motorbike mags. Someone has got to sell this. Vince how much would it cost to get it done, like done for real?

Even though I am one of them "rich", white, racist, bigoted, homophobic, rape the environment, don't give a crap about the poor and oppressed, Republicans. I'll donate $50 to help my good ole' liberal friend Vinny.

This is what makes the world Great! "ZX" If I was having a Bad Day, this sure made it great! Otis, you are not alone. A few other Board Members have also offered a Little Financial Help to boot!

The Problem here is the Point will be missed! It is the "Struggle" that makes this worth while. Almost anyone could do this with enough money or help, but to do it with very little, is also part of my Quest. The truth be told, I have spent about as much money on my Mother's Estate as Barry Henson has spent on his SBS Bike this year. Yes I want in the WORST Way to go waay over 200, but it must be done on my terms which are,

#1, As little money spent as possibel
#2, Mostly my own ideas.

Done this way and telling all of the mistakes I made and things I did right should allow others to get there even cheaper. Racing has never been cheap, but on this deal, it will be less expensive! "When I do this" Then I want all of the money from everyone so I can breathe Financially

Last, Other than My Wife, Randall and Myself, Jim Owens has given me as much imformation possible to help me. Patrs wise, Hindle, Bear and CP Have really stepped up to the plate in what ever I needed.

My first attempt where I went 199.353 in that article I spent about $2,000 in total ($500 for the NX Kit, $500 for Bottles 10 and 2.5 pound, Gauges and lines. About $500 for the tail section and paint. and the Last $500 for "Other Parts" ($200 wasted on the NOS nozzles) different wind screen, getting the tank made and the Exhaust modified)(Made about 210 to 220) HP

My Second Attempt where Randall went 199.232 cost another $3,500 for the following. $500 Schnitz Controller and Retard unit. $500 for 250 Solenoid and 1/8 pipe tap shark nozzles, $700 for JE Pistons that did not work and $500 for CP that finally did plus about $300 for Heaters blankets for the 10 pound and 2.5 pound Bottles and $300 for Cam sprockets and installation and head gaskets and base spacers (about 3 sets for the 3 times I changed Pistons) This got the Bike running than then $200+ for Dyno time. Add another $500 for Smaller Sprockets (Now 5 at $60 each) and Longer chains and a New Rear Tire) (Made as much as 300 HP depending on when I hit the button but by Peak revs I was only making 180 to 200 HP)

SO for $5,500 I have a Bike that can make over 325 HP and has the potential of 220 MPH. I showed a few of you the Graph on how the controller was not working and when I hit the button at 7K the power went from 100 to 250 HP and we were hitting it at 9K so we were going from 150 HP to 300 in about 1 second (200 Rpms was all of the time we had). Motor Only was hindered because I had not timing advance and was retarded at 10 K by the Schnitz controller 1.5 degrees. I just did not bring the advancer I already had which I could have set it at 5 degrees and adjusted for it with the switches so I would have had 3.5 degrees over 10K!

SO over the next few months, everything should be resolved without hardly any more "MONEY" Spent (About $500 for fuel, Dyno time and a new head gasket. (I ran out of stock and had to use the P.O.S. Cometic that leaked water before the engine even started).

SO you now have the entire story. If and when the house my Mother lived in is sold, that will bring me back to life Financially. Also in May starts my Court date to recover from the 3 years I had to walk on crutches and 7 operations I went through! So hopefully I will be able to do this in April 2004. Again, you just do not know how much you have just done for me and it will always be appreciated!

Vince, that is a great story! I am with you like 98.5%. But the whole do it on you own dime thing is where you lose me. I mean you are trading value to someone who needs the exosure. It is not every day that a company gets the chance to put an advertisment on a 50 year old black guy going 200 mph. That has got to be the marketing equivalent of the 4 quadrant film. Let them give you the money. Someone give him the money!

ZX. don'y you know that Old People are set in their ways (In my case at a early age Short story, In the early 80's I made a Dump can for refulling at Daytona. It used some 1 way valves and a large Ball Valve. It had a tube about 1 inch befow the filler area. The can had a tight seal on the tank top and when you pulled the Lever and the fuel started leaving the can, the vacuum it created helped such the rushing air out of the tank. ALso the air rushing out of the tank forced more air into the can which pushed more fuel into the tank. Under the testing, the First Gallon flowed in 2 seconds, the 2nd gallon about 1.5 seconds and the 3rd fallon in about 1 second. It filled the tank in about 3 seconds and when 1 inch fron the top the fuel automatically shut off. You let go of the lever and lifted the tank straight up and the few ounces in the tube filled the tank to the top.

This was my invention out of my mind. That was also the same year that they spilled Gasoline all over Freddie Spencer using their Dump can. They offered to take a look at my can and buy it. I covered the can and it still sits in my basement. Some things are just more important to me and even thought it has cost me a lot of money over the years, I still have not figured out how to change my attitude ?? Frankly, I do not know anyone like me and that is a blessing from the Lord! Worse yet, Is I would love for someone to offer me what you are talking about, but I would hate to do it! Figure that one out! Waay down at the Bottom of my tail section I am going to put on some Bikeland Stickers for the Moral support I have received here.

Last, I used Moto X Fox AirShoxs on my road racer. S&W Offered me some of their shocks and maybe a little money but I did not want their shocks. I guess it is really the case of I just do not want anyone to be able to influence any decision I make or finally take credit for anything I do! (And it always comes down to that one day or the other!)

Well I won't pretend to understand what you are saying but I can sure respect it. If you wouldn't have made such a case I would have started calling and pitching it myself. The comment about "not wanting the money but not being able to say no if it popped up" hit home. I virtually had the phone in my hand until you said that part. So I guess we respect your wishes. Too bad.

Thanks, you are the Class of the Act!!

My Mother called me a long time ago in the early 80's when I had just bought my first house and offered to send me some Blank checks just in case of an emergency. I told her that "The Struggle" Makes me stronger. But I was no fool either and if I ever got into a spot where asking for help would be cheaper than allowing Foreclosure or Bankruptcy, That I would call. Motorcycle Racing can never allow me to get to this point, but if you knew how financially close to the vest I was playing it right now, you would really shake your head. I trust in the Lord and pay my Tithe & Offering before I pay anyone else and he will make a way out of No way! (Anyone want to buy a large beautiful house near Toledo Ohio?? WHen this house is sold, 75% of my problems will disappear!)
