laid off yesterday...
well to top off the last couple weeks I got laid off yesterday...3 years of hard work down the drain.
You may recall my cage was totaled 2 weeks ago/wife hurt by uninsured motorist, who has no licence, & now his cage/licence info is invalid. Forged licence/& altered licence plates. We have no idea who/where he is...gone. Now insurance is giving us a hard time to boot...arrgghhh!
Then last week I find out I need surgery on a "lump" in my neck. That's off now as I just lost my insurance. I spent the last 2 weeks training "my backup" which I guess was really "my replacement." 22-year old kid w/no common sense at all. He works cheap tho...
Now we are really in a pickle. Wife's still immobile from wreck, I'm playing Mr. Mom day/night, & we are down to one car & couple bikes -both of which I just put up for sale cuz I need to come up w/cash quick for us to make house payments...if it wern't for bad luck...we wouldn't have any...
pray for us...sorry to vent here; but we are really alone on this w/no help from anyone. Venting makes me feel better for a few minutes anyhoo...

Damn bro....
EBD,
Brother I can really sympathize with you. I can only imagine how tough it is. It seems like I am hearing a lot of stories like yours here lately. My household has taken some major hits this year, my income alone has taken just over a $10K hit, and my wife's losses add another $5k. (we work for the same corporation ) That's a new 10R and several bolt-on goodies that I could've had. But that's trivial in a sense because it has just been hard to make ends meet, and make lifestyle adjustments that you're reluctant to do. But you do what you gotta do, and to be honest I'm just thankful that I have a job, and more or less survive right now.
A lot of things have been put into perspective for me. I've been so close to selling my bike multiple times this year. ( I may still have to do it if things stay as they are for another year. But they sell bikes everyday, and if I have to part with Lil' Red so be it. But as soon as things break I'll be @ the dealership with checkbook in hand, and probably sportin' a woody.
I hope some good luck finds you and your family very soon. A lot of people I know are going through situations similar to yours. Just hang in their and something will give.

I am sorry to hear about your luck Dave, one thing to keep in mind is your insurance does not run out for 30 days? double check! and for you insurance you need to have a face to face! and I am sure one of the squad cars got video, of this crook. so the police should be able to put out a search for that person! good luck buddy and keep us informed! maybe a neighbor can help with watching the kids, just for a few weeks? go to freaking Menards/ Lowe's. or something like that they are always hiring! maybe it is time for the kids to go see grandma for a month! just so you can get your $$ rolling back in. I hope this might have sparked an idea for you!

Did you have uninsured motorist on your policy? Second, selling what is already paid for doesn't fix your problems. Push hard and "think" of a different angle to serve. Service is what you have to bring to the table to exchange for money. You only need one yes in a sea of no's to solve your moment. Fight, Fight, Fight

EBD.....If you could ask for something from the people here on this site.....what would you ask for other than prayers to help you with your situation......THINK long and hard before you answer....remember, it's not a matter of charity but a matter of friends/family who are all here to do what we can for each other.

Dave, real racers don't quit, when they're down, they just get ready for the next race! So put your brain back in gear and throttle up!
Where are you living now? What do you do or want to do? Do you have any current limitations? E-Mail me and let me know and I'll make some calls for you up there and see what I can do. You get back on the gas and smile while you're doing it!!! Peace.

man things are suckin', KEEP YOUR HEAD UP MAN!
btw, I thought this was all corporations, but it is worth checking out for your own previous employment.
Our Health insurance continues to cover us for something like 6 months after a lay-off/firing. I hope it's the same for you so that you can get appropriate medical coverage!! Check it out man!

I believe all companies have to offer a "Cobra" plan for continued medical coverage (you pay full, but at least you can keep your coverage).

thanks again everyone for the kind words...
Yeah, looks like we are able to do the Cobra thing; supposed to get details today. I still can't decide if I want to do the potentially hazardous surgery tho; probably cost me WAY above & beyond what insurance wants to pay. Waiting until I can get a quote from them...
Kerry/Extreem, thanks for the kind/selfless offers. I will think a bit before a serious response as I'm pretty sleepy right at the moment (been up all night.) One thing I would love would be a decent job in the industry I love so much.
But then, I've never needed to take charity from anyone; typically it's the other way around. It would have to get pretty desperate here for me to accept that...but thanks anywayz for the thoughts...
BTW Kerry, I dug up some old photos. Got a really good one of Bruce Hammer T10 @ Sears on the old V&H GS1000 roadrace bike....you still have any contact w/him? I can e-mail it...I got some good ones of you too on the old #222 KZ....but can't seem to find them @ the moment...
(was digging thru old photos yesterday...)

Im have lost my job 2, this have been a week of mixed emotions (anger, happines, etc), but today Im confident that things will flow with me, not because the path that lies in front of me because of the one that lies before me, all the things that I have acomplished and succeses I have.
Sometimes its time to reinvent ourselfs in a more inteligent way.
take care.
