200mph plus Hi guys. I'm new to this board. I have a silver zx12r with full akro k&n and a pc. It delivers 180,7 bhp at the backwheel. Today i was just cruising on the motorway when i saw a couple of hundred yards of tarmac in front of me without cars on it. I couldn't resist the temptation. Open went the throttle downshift to fifth at about 185mph to sixth. I did touch 206 mph with ease even though i was in jeans with a jacket on (stupid i know but at that speed.....). I had to back off because of a car.
This is my fastest speed sofar. I also have a gsxr 1100 w with 142bhp at the wheel and it goes 188mph on the clock.
But at that speed the zx still accelerates with brute force.
This was a new dimension.

Good to see another dutchman on this board. And with a silver 12 too
Do the pipe and pc3 make a lot of difference compared to stock? Can you recommend the upgrade?

First I want to say.... WELCOME and congratulations on that blazing run!
Now, don't take this wrong, but I have a small amount of "bad news" for you about that top speed. Due to the bike's speedo error, that "206" is closer to 185 actual. That's going on what appears to be the average error of 10%. Even at an error rate of 8%, it would be close to 190. If the bike has been regeared, it'd be even worse!
Still, this is NOT to detract for the fact that you were FLYING! I have yet, in almost two years, seen speeds anywhere close to that (169.7 actual). Of course, if you read my "signature" at the bottom of my posts, you'd know why! BTW - my "signature" sounds better then stating the fact that I have no "balls"!

Opps! My bad! I don't have a clue on how the speedos are set up on Euro bikes or what their "error percentage" is.
HEY JEROEN! Great to see ya here again! Don't be such a stranger... O' father of ALL ZX12R boards!!

Jansezx12,
Welcome to the board, there's alot of good info here.
I also have a silver 12 with an Akro, truly the fastest
color!!
What part of the Netherlands are you from? I have a
friend who lives in Bergschenhoek and rides a CBX1100.
He and his wife comes to the USA every couple of years
and tours our country. I believe you folks have too much
rain there for me !!!!!

I can recommend the akro. This pipe is very good and makes a nice noise. Not extremely loud. With this alone you will have around mid 170s. Without another modification my bike ran good but looses at the bottem of the rpm range. From ca 5000 rpm onwards its stronger. The pc and filters won't change that. It will never be as strong at the bottem as stock! But it is still strong! With the pc and filters it will gain at the bottem and at the topend. I think my bike can still be better if there was a tuner who knows what he is doing with the pc. In holland they will sell you a pc 2. This is actually a pc3 with a wrong sticker on it.
My bike is done at BEKU Motoren Uithoorn. They have a dynojet tuner. He has already done 4 zx 12s. All silver.
Cost are 650 euro for the pc and filter with installation.
Akro is about 1150 euro with titanium linkpipe. I bought it at Motoport Almere.
I can recommend the akro...ran good but looses at the bottem of the rpm range. It will never be as strong at the bottem as stock!
You can correct this with a Schnitz Nitrous Kit but it won't help you in the lower rpm range in first gear, because your grip is not strong enough and your swingarm is too short ____________

On the dyno - Average error was over 8%. That was on five different zx12rs. Nice thing about a yellow box, you can get that down to zero error.

Mine's about 9 to 10% That's while running a 180/55 rear tire (very close to the measurements of a 200/50, except for width) and +1 on the rear sprocket. These changes made little difference then the OEM set-up. Other aspects like tire pressure and tire growth can also change the error precentage, but only a minicule amount.
I use a Garmin GPSIII (permanently attached to my "mini" tank bag) and a Sigma Sports Targa with two magnets on the rotor (instead of just one) for the extra accuracy. I also will measure my front tire's (which the Sigma measures from) circumference several times through out it's life on the bike and adjust the Sigma, if necessary.
I'm just too much of a "gizmo guy" and I'm too cheap (okay... broke) to buy a yellow box. I've been using that old GPS and a Sigma years before I even got my 12R. I've grown so accustom to looking at them, I actually can't bring myself to look at the OEM speedo. I guess 'cuz I can read the digital displays faster then I can comprehend all those numbers on the OEM speedo. After all, I am from Arkansas. We have to take off our shoes to count past ten (or 11, if I'm wearin' "zip fly" jeans)!
Still, for accuracy on the OEM speedo, the yellow box is the only way to go.
