Anyone experience this on a 2000-01 model?
Rear connnectors in tail have a burnt plastic smell. Harness has been sealed at the case via recall.

That was my experience Mike. I replaced the stator and regulator because the plugs, and a small amount of insulation on the wires, was toast.

The oil in the connector causes resistance to increase to the point where the connector overheats and will eventually burn up.
I've seen an '00 that was about 10 seconds away from starting on fire.
The "fix" Kawasaki does by applying an epoxy around the plug terminals is bullshit and doesn't work. At least permanently.
