Tire Opinion

Since I've been off the saddle for almost 2 yrs, I need to find out the best tires for the 12, again. Before my mishap, I was running Metz M-1's and loved them. A friend of mine has the Michelin HP Pilots and said they are good and don't take as long to 'heat' up. So give me some input on what's the best tires out there. Wear doesn't matter...in Phoenix, the roads eat tires. lmao

I had the Bridgestone BT-014s on my last 12r and loved them.. I'm not a real agressive rider though.. I liked the way they looked too.. ????

A guy talking on a cell phone and eating a burger decided to do a U-turn in a blind curve on a mountain road. I dumped the bike, but momentum took me into the car and his bumper ripped me from my ankle to mid thigh...to the bone. 135 stitches and 55 staples. I had to learn how to walk again and still going thru physical therapy. Right now, I'm ready to get back on the saddle.

I'm all about the 010's but they have been discontinued and replaced with the 014 line...so that's where I'm at.

Congrats on your healing, Beanee. MAW seems to have a pretty good price on the 014s

if you're in phoenix, you might be able to find some body that deals in scrubs. i have a buddy that races and i get the pirelli dragon supercorsa. 180 bucks for a soft front medium rear. way better than any stock tire i've ever ridden on. higher profile too, you turn a lot better. i might be able to get some shipped to ya if you're interested.

Done Dunlop.

Done Michelin.

Done Yokahama.

If you like curves, Pirelli Diablo Corsa.

Thats all I have to say about that, ;-)

I've been stuck on DunFlops for >20yrs. now; currently using D208ZR's. I just love the "feel" of them when approaching the edge; they give plenty of feedback. That feedback has saved me from countless bails now; the drawback being the lack of mileage. Staying upright is MY primary concern...

I don't think they would work too good in your area of extreme heat; I've cooked a rear in one or two rides before IF I get a little too hard on the throttle exiting corners. As little as 300 miles to wear the sidewalls down to the wearbars on the rear if I have too much fun on a hot day & a spirited ride. Typical mileage is 900-1100 miles out of a rear/about double that for a front; I'm just too friggin' hard on tires... :P

I still love the tires....D207/D208ZR's...

I have a brand new D207ZR front out in the garage never mounted. Price $70+ shipping if you want it...(now stuck on D208's...)

Wilmack, yeah, I stay in PHX. I used to be strictly Pirelli when I lived on the East Coast, but when I moved out here the Pirellis couldn't take the daily riding. Does your friend get them from a local PHX shop or online?

Eastbay Dave, I have 208's on it now and I don't feel comfy at lean angles especially when going against those pesky liter bikes. And they are wearing thin really quick.

Wormser, I heard the new Pilots are better than the older Pilot Sports. Is that true? I ran the Pilot Sports for 6 mos and love them...but I hated to have to put 5 to 10 miles on them before they heated up. Do you have any input on the new Pilots?

I've never tried Bridgestones, but I may try them. From what I've heard the Dragons or Pilots may be my next choice.

sometimes he keeps them from his own race team and he has buddies that race and occasionally gets a large delivery from him. Most of the time, i can get some tires with the production lines still on 'em. riding in indiana is probably a lot easier on tires than in phx. not quite as hot. reuben runs ama and wera, i don't think he makes it anywhere near phx. and i know he doesn't get them online. but for where i am, there is o better tire to be running on. the 12 likes 'em.

Thanks, Wilmack. I will have to hold you to that in a couple of weeks. The 12 is getting some work done on it for 'stealth'. There are too many Turbo Busas and Gixxer's out here...I'm evening up the playing field with a dry shot. My email is beanz@bnzsolutions.com
