Posted: 19 Sep 2004 11:07 Post subject: A 210HP 12R !!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First, my 12R is a 2004 (black), a French model that means in stock version with 106 HP, after a fine grinding (around 2000kms). I 've checked my engine on a Dynamometer (dynojet model 250 with a lambda probe), and the result is 108HP. Then I removed the french power restriction (method, if you care : http://www.zx-12r.org/Motorcycle_info/Information%20Pages/FranceDerestriction/Ninja%20ZX12R%20Full%20Power.htm).
Two tests on a Fuch : 188HP and on the same dyno 192HP (engine had 6000kms).
I've changed my full exhaust system for an Akrapovic evolution + a PCIIIR+ K&N air filter. All the set up was done by Renault Formula One's engineers (one of them is one of my cousins ) .Also, They did modifications on the Air box and some things they didn't want to tell me
These setting was done with theoric methods so I went to an official PC Center (where I tested my engine first). .The technician did few modifications and the result = 202 HP !!
Finally I've worked on the ECU to break the speed limitor and I discovered some restrictions on fuel curves (for the speed limit in 6th, but also on 5th and 2nd, and for pollution), I 've removed all these restrictions and I 've returned to the PC Center. After some modifications on the MAP. Results = 209HP on the Dyno and 212HP on a Fuch !
Not a revolution : just a good grinding, and a good setting with several modifications...
A good estimation around 210HP is objective, by the way ! But it's only an estimation, and it's not easy to know if the dynamometers was calibrate as it should be !!
All I'm certain is that I enjoy with my 12R, and some friends of mine have 10R and R1 (2004 Model) and they can't follow me. I can got to over the red zone on the 6th, a little bit more than 12500RPM (maybe 12750, but it's hard to see ). I'm sure than I can go to block the counter at 13000RPM but I'm scared about breaking my engine at this speed !!!
N.B. : All the power estimations were done with the Effect of the Ram-Air, excepted the first (108HP).

Richard, If you "Carefully" Read what he says, #1, he is estimating the Ram Air Effect and #2, The Dyno is using something like "Standard HP"
Take 170 HP and add 10% for Ram Air and 10% for STD Hp or 34 more HP and you have 204
Take my bike making 183 HP and add 36.6 and you have almost 220 HP
So he is making about 175 HP (plus 35 more for the Ram and STD and you have "210" HP SO he is down about 8+ hp on us!
