Snowing in San Francisco!

(Local news report 1/28)

Snow Falls on the Bay Area

Cold temperatures and an unstable air mass brought snow, sleet and hail in the Bay Area today, affecting the region's roadways and prompting school closures. 500+ auto accidents were reported for the Bay Area's morning commute by the California Highway Patrol.

The National Weather Service issued a rare winter weather advisory for today in response to a "very cold Pacific storm'' from the Gulf of Alaska that brought snow up and down the Bay Area from Sonoma County to the Monterey Bay.

Snow in San Francisco??!?? I haven't seen this but a couple of times in my 46 years. This is the worst riding weather I can ever remember... (sniff)... Now I know how you guys back East feel...

Have you ever seen the roads in that part of the world Otis ? I'm suprised parked cars don't slide off the hills into other parked cars on clear dry summer days.

That was JUST the MORNING commute. Did not include the afternoon or 24hr. period. I agree, most can't drive worth a damn anyway, mix it with rain & it's accident city.

Mix it with snow & ice & it becomes disaster! :

It's the same here in Detroit when the first snow falls in Nov or Dec. Idiots forget how to drive in the snow and crash all over. Takes em a little bit to remember. Why can't everyone just drive like me? The world would be a much better place.

Little snow

I live in Concord (33 miles E of SF) thesnow didnt even stick through 7:00 AM. I took a day off from riding just because of the idiots out there. Also didn't liek the chances of ice. I don't like riding in rain or snow so bike stays garaged during those days but ah well back on it today.

I remember a little snow when I lived on Treasure Island in '84. Used to live in Concord too. Never snowed then. At least, being from the midwest, I could drive on it. Now the black ice in Seattle.....
