My ZX12 is gone

Well I sold my ZX12 today. I am going to pick up my new black and silver GSX-R1000 tomorrow. This is going to be my first Susuki and my first non Kawasaki since 1987.

What gives? Why give up a ZX-12R for a GIX'er. Not that there is anything wrong with the Suzuki, but the ZX is such a great bike.

I had a '98 Gixxer 750. I loved it! But I love my 12 even more. -ZXtra

WTF?

Well that just sucks! I took a GSXR1000, GSXR600 and 929 apart yesterday on the straightaways and schooled 'em in the twisties as well. Yeah, I know the two GSXRs should've swept by me in the turns but I simply out rode (read bigger balls) the two GSXR riders. The 929 was a non factor the whole ride. There's alot to be said about riding smoothly through the turns and the 12 is silky smooth. Maybe not as flickable as a GSXR but much more stable and predictable.
I hope you like your new ride. Just hope you won't be disappointed. After the 12 everything else just seems kinda weak.

I have been hating my 12 for awhile. I found myself missing my ZX9 more and more. The big problem is I bought the 12 because the 9 didn't have enough power for me.

I think the 1000 is the ultamite sportbike being made at this time. I have two good friends with 1000's and I have traded bikes with them alot. I plan on having the 1000 a at least a few years.

I would wait for the new ZX10R to come out first before I'd buy the Suzuki, see what test results say about the 10R before laying down any cash then decide what to buy, rumour has it the ZX10R will have 158 rwhp wrapped up in a ZX9 package... Just might be the new # 1 full out sports bike on the planet...

Well my new Gixxer is home. I ended up having to ride it home. I forgot how easy these things turn in. The temp was 45 when I got home and a slight drizzle.

The ride was about 50 miles and I set a brisk pace. I am now ready for some warm weather to get udjusted to the new bike. I found myself thowing the to hard into the corners.

Well I hope you enjoy your new bike. I thought about trading my 12 last year when I saw the GSXR in person. But I just couldn't do it. But I will consider the 10R very strongly. I just can't say good bye to my 12 and I'm too cheap to have another sport bike at the same time. Nothing like running down hot shots on R1's, GSXR, and 929's when the road gets straight

...congrats, Turbo810...I, too, like the GSXR1000 for what it is...you just can't deny the GSXR's specs and the results...my big and brutal 12R, however, is a keeper no matter what else shows up...that includes the new ZX-10R or whatever it'll be called...the 12R's layout is different than anything out there and, I suspect, a future classic...enjoy your new toy!

Fish I think the new silver R1 is the best looking Bike made. I just need more power then it will make. They still won't be able to keep up with aGixxer I'm sure.

The 1000 can hang with the bike formerly known as my ZX12 extremely well. I punished all R1's that ever tried anything with the 12. With the blue paint I had many R1's mess with me thinking it was a ZX9.

Look at it this way, with the merger, it's still "all in the family" anyway! I traded my 12 for a '99 ZX-9R last summer, mainly because I was pissed because Kaw refused to make the fucker run right, and I didn't want to spend money for a PC-3. (It was also a matter of getting a great offer at the right moment) I actually like the way I fit the 9 better than the 12. I really liked the 12, but was just pissed about my treatment by the factory. I have been thinking about trading the 9 for an Uglybusa, but then I would be stuck with an ugly fucking bike that wouldn't be worth shit at trade-in time.
