Fan not working on my 00' !2
I was riding today, and got stuck in traffic. Looked down and noticed the temperature guage blinking. I haven't had this problem since I added waterwetter, and really didn't think it was a big deal. As I got going, of course the temperature came down, but I noticed the fan was not working when I got home. I have about 22K miles and have had absolutely no problems with the bike. I checked the fuse for the fan, and it was good. Changed it, just in case. Has anyone experienced any problems with the fan going out? Any suggestions as to what I should look for?
BTW, I bought and extended warranty that has not expired yet, so I was wondering if this would be covered...
Thanks for any help from anyone.

Try jumping the connnector under the left ram air cover/side panel.
Could be the wire got cut or something is physically holding the blade from spinning.

It is probably the radiator fan switch that screws into the radiator on the left side. Several 12's have had this switch go out. I had mine replaced under warranty.

Like TB mentioned, I once had a fan blade that was wedged/stuck in place due to the way it was mounted to the radiator. It doesn't take much to keep it from spinning 'round. Might want to check it by hand real quick.

Yes, the extended warranty will definitely cover that.
I have 26,000 miles on my 12 and I have yet to have a problem. It is an 02 model, so there are two fans.
And what is "waterwetter" by the way??

my fuse came blown from the factory (May 00')...
I refused to take delivery of an overheating bike; after waiting all afternoon for the bike, the dealer talked me into it saying "they all do that, you have to keep air moving thru the radiator or it will overheat." I was gullible enuf to believe him...& rode off. I later brought it back twice, they never found the problem.
I bought a service manual, first thing it says in the cooling system troubleshooting is "check the fan fuse"....I did, it was bad, plugged in new fuse & problem solved. I guess dealer mechanics never RTFM....? DOH!

Beans, look here for info:

I have no clue why you have not heard of this stuff. It's 100% required if you do a track day. Most track day organizers make it mandatory for you to replace your glycol-based cooland with water & water wetter. On my bike, I don't run the glycol-based stuff anymore. Water + water wetter actually keeps the bike cooler. (Plus, I'm in california.) I don't have to worry about the water freezing in my bike.
All autoparts stores sell the stuff. It's like $5 a bottle, and you only use a few capfulls per gallon. Go get yourself a bottle and try it out. It does work.

Redwood City Kawasaki/Hans...
They never acknowledged wrongdoing, even tho there were 5 seperate prep errors:
blown fan fuse
clutch cable routed wrong
turn signal fell off on way home
loose steering head bearings
Low radiator resevoir/big air bubble
Other:
Claimed to have checked my valves @ 1800 miles, but the valve cover looks to have never been removed (I marked it w/yellow paint/undisturbed upon pick-up)
Claimed the turn signal thing would be fixable in 5 minutes, I waited 3.5 hours in leathers on a hot day.
Claimed "all ZX12R's overheat when 'new'. Riders must keep air flowing thru the bike to keep it from overheating." Right.
I've forgotten most of the other stuff...RWC KAW sux. I'll never go back; this is the way they treat CASH NEW customers? Geezeus...

Beans - If you are going to keep the bike on the road, I wouldn't sweat it. Water wetter is great if you are taking the bike on the track, but it has no antifreeze protection.

Thanks for the info, fellas. I have already checked the fuse. I will check to see if I can spin the blade, and also stick a postive wire on the relay, to see if it spins. I have already called the dealership, and it's covered under warranty. I just regret having my bike in the shop for a week, if it is a quick fix, and something I can do...
