knocking 12

HELP.
I have a 12 motor that's knocking.
All bearings are good. All wrist pins are good.
no signs of excessive piston slap.
No signs of any damage anywhere.
Bike ran good until crashed, when restarted it was knocking.
Dealership tore it down, checked and reassembled but it's still knocking.
Now he thinks problem is in the transmission.
How likely is that? It's a hard knock like a rod.

P.S. this is the second 12 i've heard of like this.
Any suggestions?

does it only happen when you're moving or when you rev the engine in neutral too?

Sounds like your dealer didn't "inspect" too carefully. If it's knocking, SOMETHING is hitting SOMETHING else and he didn't find it. What's the answer to frEEks question? What were the circumstances of the crash? Exterior damage, speed? etc.

I agree about the dealer and the hitting.
Knocks at idle, no need to rev or ride.
Guy ran off the road into a dirt field. He went down hard but no external engine damage, mostly plastic damage.

In all fairness the first engine i heard about belong to a racer mechanic that
has build many engines, from 50cc 2 strokes to high hp race engines.
I say this because i really don't expect it to be the ovious rod knock.

Also, In Re; to Mad Mike's Comment...That clip should be a mandatory replacement if removed AND when installed has to be indexed correctly.
