1st Drag Race!

I had fun, wasn't planning on going but some guys were going so I went along to watch. Never been into the whole drag stip thing, never done it either, everything happens so fast, no time to think like on a roadcourse. My 12 is 2002 18,000+miles, stock everything except pipe, PCIII(no dyno tuning), and -1 front sprocket. Suspension was at factory showroom settings no lowering no strap, and my chain/sprockets are shagged and still on the original clutch. My 1st lap, I mean pass, was a 10.2, as well as my 2nd. Then a 10.3, 10.6(front tire over my head; not the fastest way) and finally a 10.1 @144MPH. I'm thinking about keeping both my bikes, maybe lowering the 12 which is my streetbike and I'm only 5'5" 150 lbs so it would make it more livable on a daily basis.

I have a new found respect for those mag test guys getting into the 9's with these things in stock trim, I tried everything with my technique and just couldn't keep the front down on the launch. Someone on another 12(stretched & lowered) was .2 faster than me in the 60 foot section, but only beat me by .1 in the 1/4. So I can't ride for shit but my size helped in the end.

Magazine guys generally dont run the #s published. They use magazine sales math and some voodoo correction factors to get a final #.

Like for instance.... back in the early 80s PeeWee Gleason ran a 10.30 on a stock Vmax...
Then a few years ago a ZX9 went into the 9s....lol

Most stock (meaning unmolested & as is from the factory)Busas and ZX12s can run a high 9sec quarter with an above average rider.
Take the magazine #s for what they are worth... ink on a page.
But for a guage... stock motored ZX12s have been as fast as 9.ohs ET and 154mph.
