Thoughts and prayers needed for a friend and his family.....

It is with great sadness that I post this.

Some of you guys that have been to the DG Rallys know Big Mike. His screen name here is "Richard Simmons". Mike and I have been best friends for over 20 years and I can tell you that he and his family are some of the most decent good hearted people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. They are "family" to me, which makes all of this even harder. Mike's brother died yesterday of a massive heart attack, he was 39 years old. I ask that you guys keep Mike and his family in your thoughts and prayers during these difficult times.

RIP Big John

Oh Rick, I can't even put into words what I feel now. You must tell Mike that I am thinking about him and his family and will be praying for them. 39 is way too young, way to young. :sad :sad

I know dude, 39 is too young. That makes it even harder too accept.

I will certainly tell Mike that you are thinking of him and his family. It will mean a lot to him Chris.

Also, thanks for calling this morning.

Rick, all I can do is share this that I posted a little over two years ago...

There isn't any reason for anyone to be sad over my brother's impending death or his passing. One of the things I've learned in watching so many of my friends, both in and out of recovery, die... is that it's not what we as family or friends have lost. No, it's what we have GAINED. My Higher Power saw fit to bless me with a big brother. Though he will no longer physically be with me, the memories of all the things we did together will be with me forever. In the big picture, what more could a person ask for.

My heart and prayers go out to Mike and his family. Godspeed.

Rick,

Let Mike know we are thinking about him too.

I lost my brother suddenly like that when he was only 32. That was in '86 and I was telling a story about him yesterday like it just happened. He wasn't here forever but he changed our lives forever.

The best thoughts and prayers go out from our family to his.

Dave

You guys are awesome. We are having a gathering tonight in honor of Big John. I told Mike that I'd made a post about John passing away, and that you guys were thinking of him and his family. He's having a very hard time dealing with it all, but I, along with many more, will see him through this. Thanks again fellas.

A life ending at such a young age is so hard for the loved ones left behind. I'm new on this forum and I don't know any of you, but you can count on my prayers for you and your friends family.
