Remember when....you were a stupid punk?
I was looking at the wallpaper thread when I saw some old racing pics of EastBayDave's and it started me reminiscing and I looked up some old pics to refresh my memory and realized what a smart-ass know it all stupid punk I was way back when.
Here I am showing off for the camera on a freeway exit....don't remember exactly which one....couple miles north of Metro Center mall in Phx. No gloves, No jacket, and a pair of cowboy boots with those nice slippery leather soles....

My pride and joy, an '83 V45 Interceptor. I bought it new in 83, I was all of 21. This would be a little over a year after I broke both my arms when I center punched a lefty turner on my GPz 550

Here is a sat photo of the exit the first pic was taken on. Too bad it wasn't a 4 'leafer' When I lived in the big city, San Diego and Phx, I used to love 'clover leaf' racing. Only problem was you only get really good at turning right.

Anyone else like to share?

I loved those old sportbikes... I was 13 when those starting hitting the streets!
Always liked the Interceptors! I had a VF1000 a few years back that I reassembled after it being in boxes for 15yrs! Made me nostaligic! (till I rode a Busa...lol)

ridgeracer,
I didn't dress any better than you when I used to ride this GPZ-1100 back in 85.

I miss my V-45 Magna also, that thing was smooth. :-)

I had a Blue and Pearl 83 VFR750F and wiped the cam lobes because they did not aligne bore the caps or have an Oil supply. My Next bike I still have is a 1984 900 Ninja! BTW, I was never a "Stupid Punk" I was an un-learned young man!

I love the GPZ1100 - still looks kinda cool even today - or maybe I'm just old........ I had a GPZ900 with a ZX10 engine as my first bike after I passed my test, what a baptism of fire that was! I reckon 80's bikes still have the scary factor though (even having a 12!). They look more raw too.
Thanks for the memory!

My '83 VF750F eat its cams after about 8k miles too. Fortunately it was covered under warranty.
Even since then I've been kind of weary of first year models.

My bike was also fixed under warranty but in Europe it was another story because they told them that they were not warming the bikes up properly and hoped they went 12,000 miles before Cam failure! Actually I think it was the follower that went flat and started making a ticking noise on I-95 coming back from Baltimore!
