Thinking about selling the 12 Family difficulties are causing me to think about selling my dear ZX12. How much do you think I can get for it? It's a red 2000 with Akrapovic pipe, K&N's, PC3r, tank bra and ZX7 mirrors. Has 3,000 miles, dyno'd at 179hp, never raced and is in beautiful condition. Comes with rear pit bull stand, radar detector mount and bike cover. Its in the Seattle area, so now is not exactly the height of riding season, but I can wait until spring to sell it if I have to. What is a reasonable price?

Make sure you think it through really good before doing this Dagger, you will regret it if you are just experiecing a temporary money setback. Sure you can't fanagle another way?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news... But even with all the nice mods you've done and it's low mileage, I'd be surprised if you get over $8K. Current "trade-in" value is around $6600 and that's what some bikes look at when determining it's loan value. IMHO, a bike is not one of the best items to unload for "quick cash". Especially "out of season".

Thanks for the input on potential prices - that's about how much I expected I could get. I'm not selling it because I need money; rather I need to put street bikes aside for a few years until I get my family through a current crisis. I may ride again down the road. I had a Z-1B in '75; a ZX12 in '00; so maybe I'll have a ZX15R in '25. But for now I think I need to move the red beauty.

Dagger, since yer local, maybe you can just store it for awhile in my heated & alarmed shop? I'll put it right beside Necromancer's. No shit, it'll be safe and warm, and if you still want to sell it this summer, you can come get it.

Put it back stock and sell the goodies separate. You will get a lot more for it stock or stock appearing. Most buyers want something they think has been babied. Parts that are labelled "race" seem to bring out the words abuse and thoughts like "rode hard and put up wet" I'll take the PC3R and the ZX-7 mirrors, please. Probably get 7-7500 if you really present it right. Sell the goodies to get you close to 8 or so.
