Air box heat blanket

Hey guys, Brett here. Does anyone have information on the heat insulator or blanket that is used on the bottem of the 12's airbox and where I can buy it. Rog told me that someone sells it or a kit but he cant think of it either. Thanks in advance, Brett

I believe it was Y2KZX12R that made them from basic insulation you can get from a hardware store. He originally had done it for himself I think, and had the template so it was easy to make copies.

The material he used was like foil on each side with some kind of insulating foam stuff inside. It is only about 1/8" - 3/16" thick.
I believe he was doing it more from being a good guy than as a business nature.

I haven't seen him post much lately so you might want to check out the H/W store for a similar material. He used something I would call "foil tape" to tape it at the corners to the frame/airbox.

Good Luck!

I'm around, I just dont get a chance to read many threads anymore. Just a quick thread scan lately.
BA's correct, its just an aluminized insulation sold at Home Depot etc. then the edges are sealed with 2" wide aluminum tape also sold there. The template for the shape is in a document that was floating around on the internet for years. (dales site i think) I dont think I have it anymore to email. I'm not sure if i even have the "production" template anymore. It got worn out after making a few hundred of them over the years.
Some of the latter batches i made i sealed the edges with a special teflon coated iron normally used for aircraft covering. But I think the aluminum taped version is a little more durable and better insulating.

I'll look for the document on installation and the pattern for it.
My email is Jimzx12r@aol.com
Maybe fish can post the document so everyone has easy access to it. ?

Oh, fish, Can you change my email in my profile for me... thanks.

Please inform me with the template or tips of this mood.
My last bike had a ruber made insulator. The ruber is very heat resistant, the one that you buy at the hardware, I tested mine in a gas oven (estufa) and you can put your hand on the other side of the ruber, no problem.

HDL , Rog wanted to put one on yours but we could not find it. We have all the info and materials now so no problem. I have enough fucking insulation to do about 20 bikes. It come in a 25 foot roll!!!!!!!!! I am going to start on my 12 this weekend so I will probably have it done by Sun. We called you to go riding on Sunday. We had a blast and found some new roads that turned out great!! I will call you later.

It is supposed to rain this weekend. Oh I got a shit load of things to do to it. It will take most of the weekend to get it done. I will still make you a sheet though. Rog might be going to work on Mark's bike so I am going to work on mine myself with the help of a few freinds.
