Muzzys/Hyperpro dampener shot
Dribbling oil all over the place; nice thing for a $600 damper to do after very few miles...(~4K)...
Dave @ Muzzys refers me to Hyperpro...
Call Hyperpro. They sez "$125 to rebuild+ shipping." GULP
Called around local. LE & Aftershox don't rebuild the Hyperpro...
New Toby $320
New Ohlins $400
New Scotts $400
etc..
Jezzus....anyone know of a better deal? I'm a poor family man...

Dave, do a search on the old threads. I could have sworn that there was a batch of bad dampers from Hyperpro that Muzzys was replacing for free. I don't know which batch, but I could swear that I remember reading a thread about a year ago about leaking Muzzy dampers that were replaced for free.

In the idea of money, has anyone ever had a Toby dampner? They seem to be a lot more afordable then the rest. I thought it would be cheap insurance (if they work good). If they are shit then I will have to hold out a long while (over the winter) for a scotts. Thanks in advance for any advise

Muzzy was in fact replacing some dampers that they sold a while back.....I would get back a hold of Muzzys and ask them questions to that fact......
If I were going to replace it, then I would use the Scotts on and A model bike. On a B model bike you cant use the Scotts and need to go to Hyperpro, or Toby, or Ohlins.....those would be my choices.....For my B model I am looking at the Hyper Pro RSC.......I had a magazine that I got in the mail a few months ago that did a comparison test......But CrashTech has my magazine so I cant give you specific numbers.....lol

The process is grinding along. Trying to get the out of warranty unit covered by the mfg. Here's the story on the leakers- There were a group of the CSC dampers (old style) produced in 2001 that began leaking within a year. Hyperpro took responsibility and replaced all of them. That group is history, and there has been no chronic problem since, and no problems with the new RSC unit. The Hyperpro damper is a reliable part and the company has been responsible in their customer service and warranty policies in all cases that we're aware of. Dave's is kind of unique, and I'm working on it as an exception as a courtesy to him.

My experience with Muzzy's has been great. Both damper and exhaust.
Would definately do it again. Great company with good service.
