He's a local Trackday instructor here in the Bay Area, & yes, he's a real CHP. How do I know this? I took a bunch of pics of his R1 (I can e-mail them if anyone wants), & tried to say hi/talk to him...
Typical CHiPPie. Total asshole....said hi to him & he ignored me. Tried to ask question about his bike..."I'm busy right now!" Jerk...

...widowmaker...which dog boy?...I see two avatars with dogs...
...hey EBD...that sucks that the jerk-off didn't have time for you, especially since he was flying and 'representing' CHP's colors... wouldn't want to take instructions from him...btw, not all CHPies are typical assholes...just the ones with the too-tight Ponchorillo pants
...I read somewhere in RRW of another racer/cop on a sportbike promoting good will...seems THAT guy has his act together...

Yup - I've read about him. I gathered that he takes his sportbike to schools and whatnot to promote 'safety' with the help of his helmet sponsor. Sounds like a good angle to get your racing paid for to me!
I wonder if he set up a foundation for that....

Dave I think i would have had to tell him to stick it right up his CHP ass right then and there, or knowing me I would have walked around in fron tof im and kept talking to him where he couldnt ignore me just to piss him off, then after I got him in the conversation, I would have turned while he was in mid sentence and walked away.....

I'd STILL rather have a kz-1000 cop bike than a cop cage, 90 hp or not!! I mean THINK about it, you get to get PAID to ride around on a bike, have a side arm strapped to your thigh AND a siren that makes slow pokes get out of the way - man... sign me UP!!!
