Marvic Penta II vs stock: weight difference???
Does anybody know offhand the difference in weight between the Marvic Penta II and the ZX12 OEM wheels????

Road Racing World did an article a couple months ago. Maybe there April - May Issue. that gave a complte list of all the good after market rims and all the need info on them.
The Marchasini's magnesum forged are by far the lightest next to carbon fiber dymags.

I am just guessing probley the stock front rim is around 15lbs and the Marvic Penta II is 2.8 kg =6 lbs

The stock wheels weigh:
Front 14 lbs
Rear 23 lbs
Thats with bearings, cushdrive and no rotors.

Yes it does. Even the cheapest wheels will be as much as a gain as bolting on a pipe!!!

Front 7.5 lbs
Rear 12.2 lbs
total = 19.7 lbs

hmmmmm... 17 lb improvement = 1+ mph on the big end, without even condidering moment of inertia considerations

I am doing it for the look and any weight that is removed the better for the straits and the twisties.
I bet if you put all the stock parts back on and then put the lighter parts on all at once you would be able to tell. 10lbs at a time probley won't make much difference 50+all at once would.
I think I lost the most weight taking the stock exhaust off and putting the full titanium pipe on.

I wonder what the stock vs muzzys full titanium I should weigh my stock pipe. Dosen't the muzzy weigh around 7.5 lbs. Just from picking up the stock pipe feels like 40 to 50 lbs.

so far I have shaved about 15 lbs off my bike, with the removal of all the unnecessary EGR shit, the stock exhaust, and the big honkin rear fender......and the use of C/F where I could.....it does make a differnece, but the place you notice it most is in the rotating mass of the wheels and rotors.....lose a pound there and its like getting 3 HP......so going to after market wheels and lightened rotors could have the same effect of getting 15 or 20 hp......its not cheap, but the bike will accelerate much better and change directions great......

I might start doing a little C/Fing myself. this guy I know works with carbon fibre and I can get it cheap $40 bucks for him to make me a front fender I just got to talk him in to it.
I would like to learn how to do it, he uses a vac machine to make the molds its pretty cool.
