redundant thread. closed
I bought the full ti system for my 2003 zx12.
Ive done everything and can't get rid of it
and you guy's at muzzy act like I am the only one with the problem sorry but everyone I know has the same problem even my buddy runs the dyno at a local shop and can't get it all the way out. even with a 400$ powercommander its still their a little, The Akrapovic don't even need a powercommander.
I even went so far as having the differnt
baffle put in for a extra $65.its still their thanks,
I just bought the 04 zx12r with the new sub throtle bodies I might try the muzzy on it.
I Have had both muzzy and Akrapovic, get the Akrapovic
the bike will run better.
When racing who wants to HESITATE at the line???

are you talking about the dead spot around 3 or 4k RPM? that's even there on the stock pipe. a pipe plsu some good tuning wiht a pc3 will help smooth the flat spot out, but i have NEVER heard of anyone completely getting rid of the flat spot on the 12.

OK then why don't I have it with the Akrapovic????
And the stock pipe doesn't do it I don't remember it on the 03 anyhow no where near what the muzzy does if it did. I just rode the 04 today and its not their with the stock pipe. it might be the new 04 subthrottle bodies. I think I will try the muzzy on the 04 just to see.I hope I can use the muzzy I know a few people looking for the Akrapovic.
And why would muzzy tell me they never heard of it, then tell me how to fix it
by sending me a fax on throttle control setting and what ohms to change it to and send the can back to put a bigger baffle it.
Did this all work it helped.
I am waiting to here how it works on the 10.

Widow... wtf are you talking about? ALL... I repeat ALL pipes for the ZX12 require some sort of fuel management device.
Trust me..the Akra needs its worse than the Muzzys!! Anyone that tells you different is a liar.
Ive put a few Muzzys on ZX12s. Bump the timing some and add or subtract fuel as needed in the affected area. Simple.
Anyway... wrong forum.

Hey Widow - you need a map for your 12? Sorry for the off topic post - mods please move to the '12 forum if need be. I have a PC-IIIr fuel/timing map for a 2000 with muzzy full system with K&N filters, Kleen air removed. Be sure to TRIPLE check your TPS sensor - CHECK CHECK RE-CHECK BEFORE you put the PC-IIIR on!! PM me if ya need some help - I'll send it over.

Didn't we figure out this fix on the 12 forum about 4 years ago? My Muzzy system and PCIII worked great. Strange to see this pop up again.

I wondered where all of this came from all of a sudden! Even the great Hindle step system needs some tweaking to run well. The problem with most Dyno operators is they are only watching the A/F Ratio and not how it performs! I had to write my own map! There is some type of Pilot Jet Mod that seems to help! The Zx12R Zone seems to have a lot of writing on this also!
The problem with the Muzzy pipe is, they could make it work perfect on the Bottom, but I have yet to see the first person that bought a Pipe to make it run smooth at 2 to 3,000 rpms

Just in case that was too lucid for some of you, I had to repost it.

Widow.... yeah Im wrong. Ive had about 4 different Muzzy pipes on my OWN personal 12s all of them ran flawless with the Muzzy systems.
And how did you come to the conclusion about my observations about the Akra?? Because you're typing to someone that owns that system as well dumbass. Sure you dont need a fuel management device... if you ride like a fucking pussy.
WHy dont you stick to Honda scooters.. like the new Ruckus. This way you'll have something to contribute to like minded owners jacksass.

I have to say that my 02 12 was silky smooth with the stock pipe on it, and had NO hesitation whatso ever.....now with a good map there is only a small hesitation not ever worth mentioning.....

Ease up TB! WOW! I also had an Akra and it ran great without a PC (Because when I bought it, they had not made a PC for it yet) right up to 5,000 rpms! Then at part throttle it became a Bucking Bronco "dying and Flying" until 7,000 then it was fine again. Made 15 more HP also up from my 152 HP to 167 HP. When I got the PC and was able to remap it myself (Because the Dynos at the time had no mapping soft ware) I managed to remove the problem with the knowledge of the Guru at the time.
This board is no place for Yelling about anything unless you know better than 100% everything about it. "Ask me how I know this"? BTW, is your system a 4-1 or 4-2-1? Does it have long or short secondaries?

Well Vince.. nobody knows 100% of anything... but I can tell you that ANY pipe needs some sort of fuel management device. Hows that for proclaimations?
And FWIW... a WOT my bike needed near the maximum amount of fuel (30%) on the Power commander with the Akra pipe to run correctly.
With the Muzzy, just bolting it on yielded different results with different bikes. Some needed some fuel, some timing, etc. With about 10mins worth of twiddling you can make the bike run near flawless on your own... or pay the $$ and have it mapped.
Mines a 4-1 (Akra) with very short secondaries (or collector).
Quoted just for future reference
quote: Akrapovic don't even need a powercommander.
Sounds like unsubstansiated bull by folks who dont want to spend the extra cake after LP soaks them for all they've got for the Slovian wonder pipe.
quote: ..you guy's at muzzy act like I am the only one with the problem sorry but everyone I know has the same problem even my buddy runs the dyno at a local shop and can't get it all the way out.
Notice how his "buddy" that runs the dyno cant tune a Muzzy pipe. Fortunately this is not .Org and there is evidence to discredit this claim.
And he wants Muzzys to bear the burden because his "buddy" is incompetent?

I like my Akro for the reasons just stated. You don't have to have a pc-3 if you don't want one.The power is smooth with no stumbles. It is the best pipe for the street in my opinion.Being quiet has saved me tickets from the man.

I think everybody should buy what they think is the best. I have a Muzzy and no complaints. So if you don't like it quit BITCHIN and change the pipe. I don't think anyuone here is going to switch brands because you don't like the Muzzy. The time your wasting complaining you could use to switch to the almighty Akra. BUY WHAT YOU LIKE AND LIKE WHAT YOU BUY.

I have a muzzy carbon on my other 12 that I am riding now and it does have a bit of a stumble at 2-3,000 rpm but even though it does I really like the muzzy pipe. I do prefer the akro but the muzzy is a very good pipe too. I don't ride around real slow a lot so the muzzy has been good.
I still do not have the pc-111 plugged up on my bike with the akro.I should have it back from the dealer in the next couple of weeks (transmission warranty, bearing failure).
Watch out -swft the spelling nazi is on the prowl!
Steve- Shut the fuck up you little bitch!
I like muzzy products and I like the people I've met that work for muzzy's. The 12 would not have nearly as much go fast stuff if it weren't for Rob Muzzy and the people that work for him. I thank them for what they have done/will do for the ZX-12.
