amen Harry......Rob and his fellas over at Muzzy have built more go fast goodies for our 12's than any other conpany. Where would we be without them?
Now I am not saying that you have to buy all of their products, or any of them for that matter....I have MUzzy pipes on 2 of my 3 bikes, and a Micron on the other.....I got the Micron Cheap, and it netted decent power, but mostly I got it because its cheap(my brother is a dealer)......
I am having pipe issues on the4 12 right now, some how it got tweaked and isnt fitting correctly....so Roger is trying to fix it, if he cannot, I will put another Muzzy on it......but with the CF can this time......

You wont see any dip or sag or soft spot with a yoshimura duplex race pipe.
You will need a pc3 to dial it in thou.
That power loss down low is why i didnt buy a Muzzy pipe for my 12r back in 2000.
Even worse is the TI force pipe for the 12r that they were (still are?) selling with the 2 long twin mid pipes. I saw 3 of those on 2 different dynos and laughed.
Not everything is about looks or a nameplate rivited to the side of the can.

i always understood the long mid pipes gave the TI force good low & midrange? u saying the opposite is true in your experience Y2K?

Freek, the bikes i saw on the dyno with those force pipes had a nasty sag in torque. Adjusting the fuel and timing helped alot but 2/3 of the power sag was always still there. Its just the nature of the design. I believe the TWO of the 4-2-1 was too long. You dont see the ti force pipe on any other bike have such a long "two" section. I still have one of the run files from one of them if you would like to see. You can post it if you like.

Interesting. But that would be for "stock motored" bikes? Bigger engine sizes should benefit from the longer sections?

I posted it once.
Rob likes putting other pipes down when his pipe causes HESITATION on the 12 do they tell you that when you buy one no and that it will not go away.
I like what muzzy has done for the 12 but when you call them and tell you that the HESITATION is rare on the 12 and you know that ain't true.
mine doesn't do it at all anymore on the 2004 zx12r.Now I won't need to bring it up anymore.

So Bad Boy- How many race wins does Kawasaki have using the Akro pipe? How many Championships has Kawasaki won using the Akro pipe? Makes me wonder about the Slovinian Wonder. In case you are not old enough to remmember Kawasaki won more races and Championships in one year running the MUZZY exhaust than they have in total years using Akro.

TB, I doubt it, but i cant say for sure on how well it would work on a larger displacement bike. I think they tried to carry the idea of 4-2-1 to an extreme. Its not just the length of the "two" part ofthe section but the merge of the collector makes a difference as well. Collector styles have an effect on the engine as well.
About 6 years ago a friend of mine did a test on collector merge sections on a BB chevy sprint car engine. the header was a slip together style that made changing collector lengths a snap. anyway, he bought several and he made several. there was tollerable differences between most but a few stuck out as either very poor or very good. One of the ones we thought would be crap was actually excellent. These were all 4-1 collectors but the point is, you cant go by looks. There is alot of physics going on in an engine. It was during these tests that he made a collector design that he still uses now on SB chevy SK modified class engines with restrictor intakes. This collector gets a steel jacket over the outside of the merge sections to keep prying eyes away at the track. The collectors are worth several hp above 5000 rpm. If you look at the collector merge on Duhamels 02 rc51 race bike from pikes peak you will see an interesting design. I dont have a picture of it off hand. I dont know if its the same pipe they use at lower elevations.
I'm going thru this on my 02 ss camaro right now. I'm trying to find a set of headers that have the design I need (want). Being a supercharged engine it has a different set of perameters than if i was building a fat cam big head, n/a engine.

widowmaker... you're posts make no sense. You're ranting in serveral versions of this thread on at least 2 parts of this site. Rob Muzzy actually answered you already. Start up another thread. Post it in ONE spot... try bringing it to the attention of Doug Meyer. It's pretty rude of you to call the CEO of a company "out" on the internet, and then ignore his responses.
Lame.
So.. I'm closing this thread (sorry sherman). I'm sure that it can continue in a more reasonable and condensed version in ONE spot.
