Muzzys 1270cc pistons

Hi! Does someone know how much the 1270cc pistons are cut when they are used as 1361cc pistons? (meas.)

Are the 1270cc pistons domed or are they flat?

Thanks // Mikael

I do not believe that they are the same pistons. The 1361 is a flat-top and the 1270 is domed. Here is a side-by-side comparison of the Muzzys (JE) 1270 vs. Muzzys (JE) 1361 pistons.

1270 (left) vs. 1361 (right)

Aside from affecting static compression they are otherwise interchangable. Your message implies that Muzzys takes a 1361 piston and shaves it down. I do not believe they do that, because of minor differences in the shape under the skirts I believe they are seperate pieces all together.

Perhaps Doug or Rob will verify.

Ops I forgot to post the link so for future reference click here:

I took these photos over the winter. I would be very careful on height, always measure! No matter what pistons you should always measure!

Doug Meyer can answer any of your specific technical questions, email him or post here.

Also Mad Mike has some hands-on knowledge as he runs 1270 pistons in his 1361 for higher compression and more power. This is a great mod if you're running naturally aspirated or very small dry kit only.

I am in the process of updating my website with new technical content and photos, event photos and video.

I was always led to believe that if you had a 1270 kit and upgraded to the 1361/1375 kit they did machine work on your existing pistons.....

The machining of the pistons is true. I have been quoted $75 by a Muzzy's sales rep for that service. I assume they fly cut the dome off the piston.
