I'm ready....
Yes I made it. This wednesday I got my Master's of Science degree from Helsinki University of Technology. My major was automation and system technolgy... Well perhaps I can't call myself a student anymore... But when I think about it it was 18 years ago when I started in the first grade - so maybe it was about a time.
But life is good - as long as I can ride the ZX12

Congratulations Toni! Now the REAL work starts, finding that job. My daughter is enrolling in the same program this fall here in Florida! Good field to be in ... lots of us on the board are in Info Systems somehow.

Ah yes, automation......Kinda touchy subject here where I work as our employer is "Automating" all of our hydro plants from one location.
Technology is a wonderful thing, I'd hate to still be using a crank to start my car!
TVA is spending like $100 million to run these plants from a contol center and only 100 operator jobs are going away, mine included, but since I'm retiring next year...no biggie.
Glad you got through school, I know it must have been tough.
Congratulations.

Thank You, everybody....
Well I consetrated to automation systems that control big factorys and
also robotics because that seemed like a fun subject. But I also took
couple cources of process identification and control so I've had my share
of transfer and statespace functions :-). My minor was mostly power
electronics and electric drives because I think that after all the neat
electric stuff it's the "heavy" electric that keeps this world rolling...
Now I'm working for big Finish Paper machine company - called Metso Paper
- You may have heard of it if You're into paper making world. Or Metso
corporation is also in mining (Metso Minerals) and also in automation
(Metso automation). I work for RD and now mainly in remote diagnostics of
papermaking machine. Which is the subject that I made my thesis.
Don't konw what I'll do after this summer but I'm looking forward to that
- and at least I can ride now more because there isn't much homework anymore...
