I've heard the fuel injectors can be problematical. Any Powerstroke Forums?

I don't know that the injectors are problematic but I heard that they are more expensive then the Cummins if you have to replace, and you have 8 instead of 6.

The transmissions SUCK ASS. 150k on our 2000 model and its eaten 2 transmissions.

I dont know what it is about those damn trucks! Saw an F350 diesel with 5 speed and 330,000 on the odo go for $10,500 at a dealer auction recently!!!!!!!!
For that kinda $$ you could have a nice Dodge Cummins with 1/2 miles and problems.

F#@K Dodge!!!

Dodges are best if you want to listen to more noise, ride rougher, have lower resale, and have less power. Otherwise I suggest the Power Stroke. My company has a 2000 F350 bone stock. I mean even the air filter is stock type. And I frequently pull a 45 foot goose neck loaded with 10,000 puonds of antique cars and gear all over. Mountains in TN near Chattanooga. We stay in the center lane and pass semis all the way up the hill. I have pulled an open deck-over type dozer trailer with an antique fire truck. Total weight of trailer and load was 19,000 plus the F350 crew cab dually! And I set the cruise at 75 no problem! up and down hills! Didn't even come out of overdrive!! Try that with a Dodge I have heard that the auto tranny's are weak. Ours is low mileage (about 50,000) but it has almost never been driven without a trailer, usually the 45 foot Feather Light, and it weighs 6,000-7,000 pounds empty! We have had absolutely no problems so far! And Chevy's? Well, Chevy doesn't even have a truck on the same race track as these other two! Chevy's are awfully pretty, and ride very nice with car like options but they are not built for work!

Fuck dat shit.

Get a Doge. Let's see, an I-6 that makes more torque (which is what you need in a Diesel, RIGHT?) than a V8 Ford?

Cool styling, great interior, an engine that won't stop, and a reasonable ride to boot? Oh, and the 100k mile warranty on the engine?

I'll take mine in a quad cab silver, please.

I like them all, but I perfer Cheap and in good condition.
I need a truck to make a few races, and to take the bike on
vacation. Maybe 5-10k miles a year during heavy years.
The most it needs to pull would be a 8x16 enclosed with 2 bikes and gear .
Just don't want to get something that will require major work to keep on the road. BTW it's a 5 speed.

I drive for a living..........delivering travel trailers and 5th wheel trailers to dealers for the manufacturers. Also, using the companies trailers I deliver high end boat trailers and classic cars. I am around "towing rigs" all day long and can say with all honesty, the Cummins is MUCH stronger built and is less prone to failure than the International ( Powerstroke ) or Isuzu ( Chevrolet ). I am not "brand" specific or faithful to one manufacturer. My 3500 Quad Cab ( in black......sorry jonwright ) is the loaded version with towing package AND camper package.......heavy duty 6 speed and heavy duty transfer case, and comes with a Dana 60 under the FRONT end......and a Dana 80 under the back. Locker rear end........BIG sway bars front and rear, heavy duty springs , Mono Max KYB shocks and basically is built like a modern day tank.

The Ford and Chevy drive much nicer and have better brakes in my opinion......but if you are going run the shit out of them every day of the week and gross out at up to 30000 gcw (seldom at that weight but occasionally) then the Cummins engine and Dodge driveline are the most reliable way to go.

My Dodge dealer has a piston, pin, rod and cap set with bearings sitting out on display from Chevy, Ford and Dodge. It AIN'T pretty when they are sitting side by side like that. It's VERY obvious which is built for the long run. Like comparing a 502 BBChevy rod to a 2.8 v6 rod. No shit..........

Just a note..........Dodge's automatic trasmisions have been plauged with problems when coupled with the Cummins and severe towing duty. My truck has the high output Cummins and until this year could only be had with the heavy duty 6 speed. No 5 speeds or auto's allowed. We will see if they have solved those problems.........my co-workers will find out I assure you.

In my field the F350 Powerstroke is the weapon of choice......Quadcab 2wd.........but the guys I work with ( 1100 of them ) have the best reliability records with the Dodge.

the combo of the allsion1000 and the H.O. I-6 would be killer if it ever was offered...I wonder if it's even a doable swap?...stick that allison in that dodge?

I think they should offer whatever engine you wanted in any of those trucks, just like the big rigs do. If they did you wouldnt see any Power Joke sales. it's widely known the Cummins is a better engine, even amongst the Ford boys.
