17t sprocket problem ??? Need help
Has anyone here installed the 17t sprocket up
front and kept the back stock?
I just installed it and the chain is now hitting the
plastic piece on the swingarm close to the sprocket.
Does this upgrade require shortening the chain???
Thanks for your help
Cheers

Not mine
I put a 17 on the front of mine and didn't notice any clearance issues. I will check tonight.

Smurfkilla,I guess your talking about the plastic chain runner that protects the upper portion of the swing arm? If so, it will rub with the chain a little more than with the bigger sprocket. It will be still be ok when you sit on it and the shock compresses, changing the vertical angle the chain runs on.
My bike looks like it has about an inch of adjustment before hitting the end of the swing-arm. So don't shorten the chain. Dan.

17t sprocket
Well just came back from first ride with the 17t and man
it has really changed this bike.
Roll on power in 1st and 2nd is even more awesome. Wish I had done this beginning of summer. Oh well.
The chain still rubs on the plastic swing arm protector even when sitting on it and I can hear it when coming to a full stop.
Looking at it, it appears the angle of the chain is just catching the end of the swing arm on that plastic protector.
One thing I noticed when putting everything back on, I really had to adjust my chain adjust bolt way out, but this would make sense as changing only the 17t should make it longer correct?
Anyway any suggestions would be appreciated.
Cheers

I don't think you've got anything to worry about. Several people here have been running a 17t for quite sometime with no problems. I have only had mine on for about 6 weeks and I also went up one in the back. I can't say enough good things about this combo. It rocks!!!
