The Arata Has Arrrived!

The Arata full Ti system just got here.

The whole system, in its shipping box, feels like it weighs about 10 pounds. Incredibly light.

Opening the package: Every piece is individually bubble-wrapped. The muffler is bubble-wrapped inside its own cardboard box. Everything arrived in excellent condition, scratch- and dent-free.

The workmanship is a joy to behold. The welds are very smooth, even in difficult places like the spring hangers.

This system will be loud. The muffler is straight-through. The neighbors will just have to suffer.

A couple of small gripes. A hanger replacing the right rear passenger footpeg was not included. (Although this item was not explicitly stated as being included, it does appear in some, but not all, of the pictures showing the system installed on ZX-12Rs.) No biggie.

Also, no anti-sieze compound was included, which I understand should be applied to the slip joints (am I correct in this assumption?) - again, no biggie, I can pick some up at Pep Boys.

Wife has the digital camera at school today - I'll post some pics when I can, during the weekend.

Oh, by the way, this is a 4-2-1 system. I mention this because in some of the other threads that include talk of the Arata, is has been characterized as a 4-1. The two 2-pipe sections are about 3" long.

Sounds cool!
Ditch the footpeg/muffler hanger if you can ....really cleans up the muffler area.

Several things, they must have just gone to the 4-2-1 because last year, none was available! #2, look in the end of the muffler box and everywhere! They play games like Hide the hanger to see who is going to call! Last, DO NOT USE ANTI Seize! You should use Hi Temp Copper silicone which seals them and helps them come apart because it becomes like a slippery powder!

I should also mention that "ALL" HP mufflers are straight through and it is the "Diameter of the tube and holes in the tube that make them Quiet! 2.25 diameter with small holes, very loud. 2.25 with large holes a lot quieter. 1.75 with large (about 3/16 inch) very quiet! Let us know!

AutoZone Advanced, Pep Boys! It is in a gold / copper colored tube and do not use to excess and clean up everything "BEFORE" Starting the bike and do not point the pipe and anything worth while! The Hot sealer will stick and burn things behind the bike for a few minutes!

CORRECTION
OH Oh, I just realized that this is a Titanium system! (As soon as you said Honda (K Bryant), I remember the problems that Honda had at Daytona! Use the antiseize because your system is TI. The HI Temp is for Stainless and regular steel!

TI is very fussy after a few heat cycles!

Thanks, Vincent - I appreciate the follow-up.

So should I be using any particular anti-seize? Is the Loctite-branded stuff at Pep Boys etc OK?
