ZX12 Real Weight??

I've seen the dry weight quoted a few places, and I've seen as tested weight in mags, and there seems to be a big range out there.

What's the actual weight of a 12, especially with fluids if anyone knows?

Is there any significant change in weight from year to year?

Last, what are the top 3 ways to reduce some weight on the 12 - besides shrinking the size of my arse?

Thanks,

Dave
(trying to decide between new 10R & a 12, darn can't get both)

Count on 540lbs... maybe even 550.

Ditch the tool kit, blinkers, mirrors, helmet locks, rear pegs, bar ends, valve cover plastic, reflectors, and stock exhaust and you can take a good 35lbs off the bike. Add some lightweight aftermarket wheels....and thats another 11lbs or so.
If you wanna remove more... go for the ZX10.

Thanks, that helps.

I had a ZX9 that was great (stolen), replaced with a CBR1100XX, great but felt a little fat. I love the comfort on the 12, but I'm afraid it'll be a little to heavy for my taste, but I love the looks too. The 10 is all that & a bag of chips. Dealer will do an 03 12 for $9800 OTD, or the 10 for $10,800 OTD ....this is really a tuff one to decide.

quite curious as to the accurate weight myself. dvsfzr1000 weighed my bike with most of a tank of gas once and got 518lbs, so count on about 525 full. that's with the toolkit, mudflap, stock signals from and rear, and mirrors removed (if i remember correctly). otherwise bone stock. that's not far off from the 540 figure TB gave.

Gotta ask yourself..... is the 10 something I can throw a bag on and go for the weekend?
I know the 12 is.
With the extra $1000 you save over the 10... you could do ALOT to the ZX12 to make it comfortable.

Yup. That 12 will do 120 all day long and not break a sweat - and neither will you.

And if you want to lose more "weight" in the handling go for a 190 rear tire. Some folks swear by the 180.

She'll handle pretty well - but she's not a 600 for sure.

Mine weighed 520 at Bristol Dragstrip on their digital scales with 1/2 tank of gas.
For comparison, Zack's R1 weighed 405 at the same time.
We're going back a week from Thursday and Zack's gonna try out his new ZX10....Bone stock except lowered.

HDL What mods have you done to the bike to make 800 mile days possible? That is damn far on the 12 IMHO. The right hand numbness alone seems to make that an impossible dream for me.

ZX..... I did numerous high mile days on my 12(s). Last year I rode with Buellbomb some 850miles in a day. Loaded for bear too.
I have Helibars.. but they dont help that much. Corbin seat might help ya some. Best thing is the "Throttle Rocker".. or "Throttlemeister". I get more use out of my $10 Rocker than I do the $125 Throttlemeisters.
Try getting in shape too....lol.

mine went 540 lbs bone stock and a full tank of gas, what a freakin pig. My zrx weighs 500lbs but feels heavier than the ZX, dont know whay but I can tell you is the ZX feels nimble even though of its weight. She handles great too, took her on some tight twisty this past weekend on a bike run here in Texas, we did over a 1000 mile in three days. I hung with the little bikes in the tight stuff and absolutely spanked them on the high speed sweepers. Best of all no more chicken strips for me, I can actually now say I'm not just a straight liner any more.
