Co Worker called up for Iraq
A co-worker has been called up to go to Iraq and serve as a Helo Mech, for Army, He is in the reserves and this is the second trip to the sand, Last time was quite some time ago, 91 I believe.
Anybody over there know what would make his time there more bearable? We are going to hook him up with a lap top, Since we have heard he has access to T-1 connection, He has two children and a wife and we thought this would help him to stay close to his family.
They say its going to be a year. But it looks like everybodys doing 18 months. He expects 18 months.
Is there anything we could get him in addition to lap top that would make things better?

i seem to recall HDL saying they played ALOT of xbox or ps2 or something. certainly something to surf would be good if they have a connection.
come to think of it, since much of the armed forces is now co-ed, i can think of one thing that would definitely make the time spent more bareable

yes...a DVD player in the laptop, and a PS2 or Xbox to pass the time on a small tv...and send him lots of goodies, and soda. The shit they sell over there and call pop, sucks ass.....I am not a big water drinker, so I had my wife send me lots of Crystal Light, and kool aid to mix in it....and a lot of reading material....those would be the best creature comforts, and let me suggest that if you are gonna get him a lap top, get a PC cam to send along with it, so his kids and wife can SEE him as well as talk to him. Just a few thoughts....
