I had a monitor go POP once, nearly jumped out of my chair. Smelled bad, took the video card with it.

I'm takin it in to get it fixed today... room still smells like burning monitor...
This 15" monitor is SO small... I cant believe people use these things!

power supply blew...
should be a cheapo place around to fix it. Probably cost about $75-$100 if the place is any good...

Ah, Im thankful Ive got a Nokia.  Problems with my monitor resulted in me receiving 2 21" monitors...lol

Common thing with Viewsonic/Optiquest monitors. Luckily they fix them under warranty without much issue.
All that electronic stuff is smoke powered, when the smoke come out - no more power.

Yup, kept it blown out with compressed air and vaccumed it quarterly. It was an old monitor though.
