Good question. Hopefully a big brother. Faster & lighter is always a good thing. But sure can't debate that they both are currently in seperate catagories and at the top of their classes.

Don't count on it, you be hard pressed to get them to do the developement to make that happen. It has it's place in the market now and that is not even closse to the 10R. I have both bikes '0012R and '0410R and there is no comparison, comfort, acceleration, handling, weight, size, although the breaks on my 12R are very powerfull, so are the breaks on the 10R, but lack the feel of the 12R and the 12R is faster. Not buy much, but faster and the it has much better wind protection.

I would doubt very much if Kawi did a lot more development for the 12. Further refinement perhaps, but a wholesale makeover is kinda out, methinks.
You have to wonder if they've gotten their money out of the investment for the 12 (they might have). Plus the fact that they prolly but a shitload into developing the 10 - it's a matter of where they are putting their resources.
I'm sure they need to recoup a good bit of investment.
Look at how long they ran the 7R, Concours, etc. etc.
BTW - as a real world 'touring' bike, the 12R. Hands down. But it just burns up my drivers license!

Seems to me like alot of the 12 experience went into designing the 10 - just wondered if that process was gonna return - upstream?

I honestly hope they change the frame! it is so hard to work on the motor right now in the bike. But I would love lighter and faster!! Oh yea! I am going to buy a New bike next year and it will either be a 10 or the new improved 12!! I can not wait!!

ZX15ZZR....A ZZR w/larger engine, tuned for midrange, in a ZX10R frame, with comfortable ergo's & long legs...
Add detachable luggage, get rid of the ZZR's butt-ugly bodywork (I almost bought one, but I hate the lights front & especially the rear end), aim it as a ZZR replacement high-zoot "sport-tourer" will all the goodies to blow beemers out of the water...& bingo...

Next time you are out riding on a moonless dark night and you are peering into the darkness...And you see in your rearview mirror this blinding, eye-of-God light come up behind you, you'll know it's a ZZR. As the rider smiles and waves to you, secure in having possibly the best set of lights on a motorcycle, you'll understand that fairing design.
One thing I'm suprised about is that Kawaski isn't offering the ZZR as a police issue motorcycle. It's got the motor, the gas tank and the weight carrying ability to do it...

...or they could just bump up the Concours a little and have a ready-made cop bike...I think the Concours is head and shoulders above the old KZ-based platform and any Harley....and not as expensive as the BMW....
