I've gotten 4K out of my current set of Pilot Sport HPX. The front is still good, but the rear has only a few hundred miles left in it. I'm searching now to find it's replacement. I'm thinking of going to a 180 rear. I havn't decided if I'm going to keep the HPX or just go with the standard Pilot Sport yet.

I have run the4 D208's the Pilot HPX's, the Pirelli Dragon's, and the Metzlers on my 12. And I like the M-1 far more than the Pilots. The Pilot takes way to long to heat up and feels vague to me. The M-1 gives great traction, and good mileage, and are about the cheapest tires you can buy for a 12....

BT020's for the whole meal deal. Others will do some thing better at the cost of a lot less in other areas.

BT020 is a great touring tire, It will offere great wear, and wet weather traction, but just isnt sticky enough for me in the twisties. I about put my buddies ZRX over a cliff on a set of BT020's. I have run a set of Bt 012 and 019 rears on my RR and it handled well with those. It all depends on how hard you push your tires, and what your main riding style is. If you are a highway guy and do lots of miles and dont take curve that oftern, the BT020's would be great tires, but then so would a set of Avons or some Metzler ME4's.......all in how ya ride.....and where ya ride....

What about Diabolo Corsas? They had a screamin' deal on them a while back. And they worked very well IMHO on a street bike.
I give 'em a nod over the BT-010's for sure - although the 010's are good tires. The Pirelli's perform more consistently as they wear - much like the Dunlops - but are MUCH cheaper (well, were....haven't checked).

Yeah I just ordered 6 rears and 3 fronts of the 010 since they are all on closeout....
How much better are the 014's?

My .02
I like the M1 Sportecs over the BT010s for a couple reasons. The M1s' grip seems to stay consistent until the tire is completely worn out. Trust me, I know. Also the cupping on the front is very minimal, way better than the BT010 fronts.
Don't get me wrong, I'd have no problem running another set of 010s, or their replacement. But as long as I can run the cheap Metzlers and get good service out of them why would I?

I think the Metzlers and Diabolo Corsas are the same tire, essentially.

that front tire on my 010's sure does cup heavily...the center takes less tread action then around it, is it like that on all tires on the 12?

I really liked the M-1's, even have a spare set on the shelf. The interstate put a hurt on 'em though.
Not on your list, but I love the Avon AV45/46's on my 12, seem to have the same grip and are wearing much better.

Ditto. Put a BT020 on my ZRX. NEVER AGAIN.

Nope.

I had the same thing on the 12 when I was running 010's. And when the tire showed wear it wanted to stand up when I was trail braking! It just acted weird when the tire was wearing.
But when I switched to the Diabolo Corsas that stopped. And as Rick found with the Sportec M1's (which is the same tire) he found they were very consistant with how they acted when they were worn. Very predictable, good mileage, reasonably priced, and had pretty damned good grip, too.
And the 020's, I rode an Fz1 with those and I was dirt-trackin the rear end out of every corner. Sucked.

I do not like the BT020's for twisty stuff, that is a accident waiting to happen, IMO

020s
Yeah, I've had some experience with 020s. Last June when Gina and I were @ the Gap I took my buddies ZRX1200. It was a new bike with less than 1000 miles on it, and came with 020s from the factory. Those tires are not that great. At first I thought they weren't too bad, that was until I built some heat in them. Then they got slippery as hell and weren't predictable at all.
I wouldn't put a set on my fucking bicycle.

I'm not sure on the difference between the 010 and 014, except that the 014 is supposed to offer significantly more grip, and slightly longer wear than the 010...an improvement however you look at it.
I ran some 010's on my 9R and liked them...but the 12 and 9 aren't quite the same. All I can say is that the 014's are awesome....WAAAAAAAAAAAY better than the POS Michelin Pilot HPX's they replaced.
And the 014's were significantly cheaper....a good thing for the "tire eater" 12R.

I ran the OEM 014 on the front and the 019 on the rear of my ZX6RR at Roebling Roadraceway last fall and turned the best times I have ever turned out on that track. However, the bike was sliding in most all of the really fast corners, and spinning up the rear in the tighter corners. Kinda like riding a dirtbike. The track conditions were perfect and the weather was perfect. I think that had I ridden the 208GP-A's on that day, I would have been a lot faster yet. So far I like them the best, but CANT afford to put them on the 12, I would replace them every other week.....lmfao

Perilli Super Corsa...
Without question the best tire... great grip but not the longest life and not the cheapest on the rack.
