Chain Lube What are you guys/gals using for chain lube? I was using the spray stuff but I found the stuff really messy and a pain in the arse to clean off of everything it flung itself to, especially in the drive sprocket area.
I now use heavyweight gear oil and even though I might have to lube more often and it does fling, it is a lot easier to clean.

PJ1 Blue Label, AFTER I get back from riding. That way the chain is still warm allowing the lube to penetrate and the solvent to evaporate...

Done at this time by spraying the lube on the "Inside" of the chain while it idles in 1st.
I use Alisyn. It was developed by an Aero Space engineer in Columbus Ohio and does not let much dirt attach to the lubed chain. Now LP and all major places sell it. Warning, you must shake the Hell out of the can before use.
Prior to this, I was using Chain wax which was fine until it rained and on a trip. I heard the chain start to get loud about every 50 to 100 miles on that trip and stopped using it right after that!

Shell dry chain lube - it reallyl is dry and dosen't get things dirty... Also cheaper (atleast here) than Castrol Chain wax.

only problem with using 90W, is tha tlike all oils it attracts and holds dirt and grime. It is a very good lubricant, but after a few miles all of the dust and grime from the road sticks to it and then start to works its way into the chain....if you use it, make sure you clean and re lube the chain regularly.....

I found this on zx12r.org about wd-40. I use it to clean and then about the first 100-200 miles of riding or at least till I get back from my first ride when the chain is good and hot and then Castrol chain wax. Just my 2 cents.
