Alarm
Welp after having some little puke with a pink mohawk trying to steal my bike from in front of the office I think its alarm time. I have used the "el cheapo" Gorilla alarms in the past but want something a bit more sophisticated. Anyone have any suggestions?

I have a Scorpio, it's pretty good, but their customer service was definetly lacking when the alarm suddenly packed it in for no reason....

Alarms
I use an old UNGO SM2000 that I had on my 7R. Kawasaki Accessories used to sell the UNGO SM500, but I don't know if they still do. After Panasonic bought out UNGO, I don't even know if they offer a motorcycle specific alarm anymore. If they do, I'd recommend the SM2000 as a good buy. Not a whole lot of "whiz-bang" features like pagers and such, but it does have the basics like ignition kill, remote/auto arming, adjustable motion sensor, etc.
I understand that the Scorpio is about the only other motorcycle specific alarm that worth anything. Everything I've heard about the others seem to indicate that they're not worth a crap. On the other hand, I wonder why a good, compact and vibration resistant auto alarm wouldn't be just as good?

I tried two different brands of auto alarms on my ZX11. The first one I have no idea what brand it was. The second one was a Panasonic. Neither one of them made 2 seasons of riding before they went t u. I took them apart and both failures were identical. The sensor that detects motion had broke from vibration. I had the alarms mounted just in front of the tail light, maybe the vibration there was to great for them.
I was thinking about the Gorilla, but after reading this thread, I think I will save some $$ and get the Scorpio before summer.
Fortunately around here bike theft is low, unless you own a Harley. I like to have the alarm though for those trips out of town to the big cities. Ozzy.

Theft isn't a problem here either but I do have an alarming disc lock for when I park outside a motel room on a trip.
