There does appear to be benefits to a 5 mil outside, 3 mil inside coating process, or something thereof. "Retaining" temperture on the inside, appears to help speed up the diffusion of the exhaust pulse. So getting it out faster, and not having undue "reversion" or slowing of the exhaust pulse packet, is a good thing. I think we're talking about mi-nute differences on all but the most extreme motors.

Yes, lots. Just to keep this short. Though it reduces radiant heat externally, internal pipe temps increase. So it won't run "cooler" inside. The idea is similar to "header-wrap". Keep the temp up, so it continues expand and diffuse. That's not happy news to carbon fibre shells because it has less of a chance to cool before reaching the packing material/shell. HP increase is negligable on all but the most hotrodded motors. #1 selling feature is that the tubing does not discolor. That's why most people buy it. #2 is the outside temperture is reduced slightly (kinda like an invisiable heat shield). #3 is the "theory" of gaining power. Save your money. Buy a Ti or S.S. they look bitchin anyway when they discolor.

The car guys get reasonable gains (on the dyno) with it coated internally. But all are 400hp + race type motors. They don't have to worry about burning out mufflers, because many of the best mufflers are mechanical (Flowmaster, no glass). Also, the systems have much more volume and length and have more time to cool before reaching the muffler(s). A host of other reasons too, but I'll just stop there. We sell about 20% of our car headers with the "HPC/Embee" inner/outer coating process. We don't offer it on the motorcycle line. I just don't see the "performance" benefit.

There is nothing wrong with Carbon Fibre. But as has been posted before, it does require more attention/maintenance. Muzzy carbon is some of the best stuff.
