My Girl Friend Is Thinking About Buying A Ninja 500
Does anyone have experience with that bike?
Do you know of any articles about the bike anywhere?
She's done with the Ninja 250...

I just helped my girlfriend pick one out. We picked up an older used one ('88) for cheap and are now fixing it up. It is simple to work on, seems to run forever, and the engine is so universal that parts are not an issue.

Awsome bike period! I could hassle guys on 600's when I had one years ago! If you buy a older (pre 1990's) with miles on it, get the tranny undercut or they are prone to munching gears! Other than that, tell her to go for it!

great bike my wife bought one a few yearws ago. I ran well adn we had no problems out of it. The only thing she didnt like is that she had to wring its neck just to keep up when we would all ride. It just doesnt have the power that she wanted. She is riding my 2001 ZX6R now and loves it, more power, and with a double bubble windscreen it offer ok wind protection, now she wants me to put a Throttle Meister on her 600...lol...
The EX500 was a great bike, but if she likes to ride or has a lot of expierence, she may find that id doesnt have enough umph.....That was my wifes only compaint....The EX was actually a lot more comfortable than the bike she has now...

Thanks for the info guys.
She just bid on 2003 model on e-bay. It's up to $1645.00. It has 1302 miles.
Darn, we'd have to take turns riding back from Denver.

A friend of mine had an EX500. In the twisties she had no problem keeping up with us...actually, we had to work to keep up with her. Of course, she struggled on the staights. The other bikes were my 12R, a GSXR750, 600F3, 600F4i. She now has the GSXR750 and he bought a 04 R1. Your girlfriend should have fun on the 500.

Hey Necro are you in Washington? If interested I have a 97 with, if I'm not mistaken 1600+ miles. I bought it for my girlfriend and she never got too interested so here it has sat. It's red and has a complete lower fairing on it that's painted to match. If she's interested in just trying one, your more than welcome to try it to see if she's interested, just shoot me an email at nouhi@earthlink.net. I have pics and the bike is red with a purple graphic. I'm usually around in the evening if you 2 are interested. The bike was tipped over once and bent the front brake lever, but no damage other than that, that I can think of. I see I screwed up my email, it's actually niuhi@earthlink.net, sorry. Swft is close, I'm up in Shoreline, just off of I-5. As for a price, Kellys has the blue book at 2875 with the standard half fairing (this one has a full and I have the half also). If I could get 2200. I'd be pretty happy, but who knows.
