Big difference,
Good track bike is long and low with a stiff supension.
comfort is of little importance. Good heavy clutch, geared for take-off (~17-50), and traction is the deciding factor over profile or wear in rear tire choose.
Street bike is taller and shorter for better handling.
Nice soft clutch for stop and go traffic, comfortable seat, good long supension , tire that last , seating for two, signals, rear pegs, mirors, and geared for the street (~17-47).
you get the idea but you can find a happy median . not the best for either but pretty good at both.

Or a roadrace prepped bike would be stripped of all the street crap(signals, lights, mirrors, undertray, gauges other than a tach, passenger seat & pegs, ect), put some race glass on it, safety wire it & go!
Know a guy that drags his prepped zx9 at spokane and does pretty good without lowering it, light bike and rider. Next day runs runs a track day on the same setup other than tire pressure.

i think roadcourse when someone says race track. I myself and not a serious drag racer, so when i go to the dragstrip the only thing I do is lower the pressure in the rear tire. I have a bike that I am setting up just for the roadcourse, it sits higher will have rearsets to give more ground clearance. really good sticky tires, a steering damper, and as much stuff stripped off it as I can. I will howere leave all the parts on it that I need to be street leagle, because it will also see time in the mountains.
Beans, when I ride ona roadcourse I am riding a LOT harder than i do on th street. Rarely so I touch a knee down on the street, but I do it all the time on a track. Have you ever touched the footpegs down on the street? I have not. And dont plan on it. The only time I have ever touched a knee on the street is when I was riding a little harder than I should have been, and misjudged a corner. Some of the guys on here have a lot more skill than I do and prolly touch down knees all the time on the street. BUt not average guys. You leave that safty margin on the steet so compensate for the unknown. (gravel, animals, cars, children). Thngs that are of no concern on the track. sorry for the ramble, just my .02 worth. if its worth that much.....Jim

HDL has said it all...Street riding is for enjoying the scenery and the road. Racetrack is for finding out how fast you really want to go.

Looking past the illegal part of exceeding any posted speed limits for a moment (because how can you argue that point...). Speed is relative to the individual. Fast for one person, is slow for another and vice-versa. Dragging a knee has little to do with speed. I find myself at times dragging my knees less when I'm really on the bubble, than I do when I'm "crusing" and simply amusing myself....

Yah, when it's that close, how much attention do you really want to spend on getting that knee all the way down on the pavement?

HDL said it well...and I'm way faster than my neighbor's 10 y.o. kid on his 'lectric moped, but he believes that he's zipping along at breakneck speeds on that thing....on the sidewalk!...venue, speed, skill, machine...its all relative, yes?

Kerry you are absouletly correct, but relative speed to guys like you and Vinny and a few others on here, is fukn hauling ass to us regular Joes. I just know that when I turn i tup to the point where I am touching toes and knees or anything other than tires on the street, I consider myself going to fast. I try to leave that percentage of error there so that if I need to use the extra lean angle to avoid something in the road that it is there.....
hey Kerry, lets keep everyone in the real world here, most of us cant hang in Kerry's world....lmfao
