Battery Tray

Well I gave up on the weather today with the temp 15 Degrees F, I removed the battery for the first time since new. Man did I get a shock. The positive wire just below where it connects to the battery had been rubbing the frame. The positive lead leaves the battery and goes down then does a U turn up to the relay box. In the verticle section just below the battery, the lead had been rubbing on a sharp edge in the frame. The insulation was almost worn through to the wire. Just a few more thousandths and it would have been disaster. Of course, this is before any fuses, so it would undoubtedly have resulted in a fire. I'm glad it got cold when it did.

Check you wires, especially if you have never had the battery out.

I HATE the battery tray.... if I have my way... with a little brain werk I will eliminate that thing and relocate the battery under the seat where it should be......... leaving a nice viewing port right through the middle of the frame!
