Another lowering question

I know this question has been beaten to death, but I need to gain (or should I say) lose a little height to feel more comfortable when stopped on the 12 (I'm a blistering 5'7"). I am going to raise the forks and put on lowering links, but my real question is; who has done this and how much has it affected your handling, in real terms. I can deal with some, I just don't want to kill it, but I need to do something or go with a Busa which fits much better height wise (doesn't fit ride well though). Oh and someone mentioned a kick stand that was modified and I was wondering who that was that sold it. Any help would be appreciated. And any comments from the p-nut gallery, well you guys know where you can stick those

I got some muzzy lowering bones for my 02 12. Im 5.7 also and when i got my brand new 12 I was on my tip toes all the time, after a week I installed the lowering bones (they have 3 holes) I used the lowest holes and brought my 12 down a la busa style, after a couple of months I got tired of my bottom dragging on speed bumps and decided to go up into the middle hole of the lowering bones. Never changed it after wards , it still sits in the middle and I love the way it rides and handles in that particular hole(middle one). Also my forks are lowered about an 1, thats how much my forks stick above the triple tree. Youll probably like that ride position .

I have Muzzy lowering links on my 02 12 R on the lowest setting I'm 5'10" but I just like a drag bike type look and most of the time I'm just ripping through desserts etc anyhoo. Not alot of aggressive cornering and I left the forks in the normal position so it really is more stable that way (It's kinda like having a little more rake in the steering neck) Although you do have to be a little carefull on speed bumps and woops etc. I have a smaller tire on the front too as well as adjustible billet aluminum kick stand I got from Schnitz racing! It looks mean and squirts off the line a lot better IMHO I would'nt lower it at all if you're doing any kind of agressive cornering though.

I have the Muzzy links in the middle position, front forks dropped 1/2 inch, weigh 190 lbs, have the suspension set up to my liking and the fairing at times meets the road.More a statement about the roads I ride.

I installed the lowering links (middle hole) and lowered the forks 1.5" in the front. It's not a problem at all as long as you're just cruising or freeway riding. But, if you do any 'aggressive' twisty riding, you will be scraping hard parts way too easily. I suck in the twisties, and even I was scraping hard parts. It got to the point where I just decided to put it back to stock height. You just have to figure out what is more important to you:

1. Feeling comfortable at a stop light, or
2. Feeling comfortable in the twisties.

You can't have both.

Yea dont worry about old topics man , if u have a question just ask these guys will help as best as they can.

but 2 your concerns, u should use adjustable links so u could switch from a low position to a high 1, Schnitz racing sells them, the ZX12R will never b a major corner carver but it will handle all your inputs and deliver.

so dont hesitate lower for your safety and others around u, and it will still wheelie! once u decide on a certain height u will leave it because now the bike feels like it was custom fitted to u! good luck MADKAW RACING
