A sad goodbye - my wife is with someone else

I never would have imagined just a breif trip to my dealer would turn out like this. Being a nice sunshine filled day, my salesman asked if I would go ahead and bring my wife ('00 ZX-12R A1) down. Since I was going to trade her in for my NEW WIFE ('04 ZX-10R), I figured that I might as well say my goodbyes to my wife of 4 years. God, this was so hard to do.

I had cleaned her up last November and she's been sitting under a cover ever since. She hasn't had a single chance to enjoy any of the beautiful riding weekends that have passed. Tears were shed by both of us as soon as I took the cover off. She knew what was about to happen. We both knew that this time would come, but neither of us expected it so soon.

When I put her in the trailer and started to attach the tiedowns, she knew that this was going to be her last trip with me as her husband. It was as if she had gone limp. The was no struggle as I had put the canyon dancer on her bars. By this time, both of us had become numb.

By the time we had arrived at the dealership, we could cry no more. It was as if we didn't even know each other any more. She still looked so good. Almost better than she had ever looked before. I still wanted her so bad.

A picture of when we first met...

Happier times...

Both of us hate long drawn out goodbyes. We both saw no point in it. She did smile for me while I took the last pictures I'd ever have of her, but it was a strained smile. I filled up every memory card I had. Then it was done. I caressed her tank one final time and then walked in to give the keys to my salesman.

While I was at the parts counter getting oil and filters for the race bikes, I heard her. She had almost a defiant tone to her voice. My salesman was moving her from the parking lot to her well deserved place at their front door. When I left, I felt so ashamed. I couldn't even look at her headlights when I walked past.

I went to my office and settled in for an evening of quiet work when the phone rang. It was my salesman. In no more than an hour... it was over. After I left, five people had inquired about her. Two of them were actually filling out credit applications at the same time. As expected, the "best man" did not win.

Her new boyfriend will likely reduce her to a life of street racing. Not that street racing is so bad, but he will never respect her like I did. NEVER! When the salesman told him about the PCIII CD, serial cable, floppy with the current custom map (as well as many others) and dyno runs, as well as a CD that had the offical parts "manual" that came with her, the new owner just looked at him and said, "Are you speaking English?". I almost started to cry again.

I fear her life here will now be oh so short. She might not survive long enough to get an extended swingarm. She might not even make it to getting the 7R swingarm, which I so lovingly applied, taken off and the OEM on put back on. This is so sad. She and I both realize what her fate will likely be, as she now rests in another man's garage (that bastard better not leave her outside!)

Still, no matter what happens, both of us will forever embrace the fact that we shared a wonderful 4 years together and no one will be able to take that away from either of us. Goodbye, my beautiful creature... Goodbye.

At least you got to say goodbye to yours. Mine died suddenly and violently in a head on collision with a car. When I got out of the hospital, I got to see her mangled body one last time before they took her away forever. I have one good picture to remember her by.

zx11_12 - I'd almost wish a violent end while still in her prime rather than the abuse I'm sure she will suffer. I just hope it will be breif.

entropy - She liked that "naked" look. She felt that if you had it, flaunt it.

She was kinda funny about such things....

Since she liked the "naked look" I'm guessing that you kept her well lubed...

Damn Red, you almost brought a tear to my eye reading that. Too bad you you couldn't have kept them both, but I know why you couldn't. You are too devoted and only have room in your heart for one. Hey, at least while you had her, she was the cleanest and best kept bike around.

Otis, if you had paid any attention...

while Roger and I were doing the repairs on your "I didn't mean to leave it in neutral, letting it fall over and breaking off a footpeg bracket" bike

OR

while I was installing your "why pay a dealer to do it when I can get some putz at the Gap to do it for free (and I'm from up north and too ignorant to do it myself) clutch plates...

you would have noticed my hair is substancially longer in back. That is if you didn't spend so much time lusting at my butt crack.

Man it seems this is exactly how it goes too. Guy has a wife. She is full on hard pullin getting the job done and I really mean done for years. With nice treatment and a few accessories she deserves, holds up well and is still running greatwhen what happens?
Guy introduced by those heartless bastards at KMC to the lighter, faster, slimmer model with a few more bells and whistles. She may even be a bit more eager to please. That young hussy lures the fellow in with all that speed and flash. She doesn't know about the history! She doesn't know him like old girl knows him! What happens to that old girl? Tossed back to the sales floor where she is faced with the final indignity of mingling among and trying to stand out from all the rest of the cast backs.
No one there knows about the long rides or the way she held up under some tough conditions for her man for years. Nope. Here she is with the Honda Intercptor (88 with a bad face lift no less) and the FJ1100 even some old FZRs - line dancing to Strokin' in the motorcycle singles bar. Final insult? Taken home by some young, crass and heavy handed ne'er do well(needs his Mom to co-sign fer Chrissakes!) who thinks all she is made for is to be flogged with rides now measured in minutes instead of the long luxurious loving she had grown accustomed to. All she gets to do now is wait in silence for some furtive street action under the cover of night. He's even threatening neon undercarrige lighting...(sob)

THAT'S HOW YOU WRITE ELK! FROM NOW ON YOU WRITE LIKE THAT! I feel your pain, I'm having a hard time letting my bike go. Personally I'm going to sell my bike outside of Illinois, so when it's abused I won't see it and think "DAMN THATS MY BIKE"

LOL Red, please do not confuse me having a little fun about your hair/long/short/loss with my total appreciation of your helping me out with my clutch and my other "issues". You know how much your help meant to me, I'm just having a little fun.

And about your buttcrack, please don't be misled, there is a definite difference between lust and nausea. LOL

Rick, I did get your e-mail and will respond, but I'm really not working this week. I'm just coming in an hour a day or so to handle banking issues then back home with the wife and kids. I am in all day Friday so I'll chat with you then. You didn't give in and give Blake the bike early did ya?

Nope....

I'm holdin' steady and keeping it a suprise. It's killing me though, but in all honesty I don't have a choice right now. His helmet and gloves haven't even shipped yet, training wheels are coming from Texas& are supposed to ship out today, cannot find boots to fit the kid at all. His legs are too big, the child has no ankles and his feet are as thick as they are long. We tried on a zillion pair last weekend and have about decided that we are going to have to go another route for his feet. What route though???? The kid isn't fat, he's just big, and his size has complicated matters. From what bike to buy, to finding gear for him. Either way he will be so friggin stoked!!!!
